It’s a real Green weak spot tbh. I’m not a war monger (been there seen it, done it) but adopting a stance of peace above all when it comes to Putin and other authoritarian regimes would actually have the opposite effect to what they want to achieve.

Putin probably has a right chuckle at this & it’s whats preventing me from supporting the Greens. We have to deal with the threats that are present.A stern talking to isn’t going to cut any ice in the Kremlin unfortunately.I can get onboard though with a hard pivot back to Europe away from the US.

Historically, the IRA did sometimes use secondary devices,to target responders after the first blast. Warrenpoint in 1979 is a well-known example. Adelaide Street,1992 Belfast another one.But it’s moot point really in light of incidents such as Enniskillen,Omagh, Manchester etc.

Just a typical example of how you can never be “pure” enough on the far left. Both ends of the political spectrum are bin fires atm

To all the flag shaggers out there, is this your idea of patriotism. Being essentially a vassal state. Get in the bin the lot of ya!

He's repeatedly insulted our country, our leaders and our military, is pushing up our prices and threatening our national security, yet the self-proclaimed 'patriotic' right-wing press still finds a way to put themselves on his side

Quite literally the anti-Christ

I’m not religious but like most of my peer gen-x’ers carry the memory of Christian teachings. Hymns at assembly, church parades in the military etc. Seeing the literal embodiment of everything antithetical to Christianity compared to the key figure of a major religion disgusts me to the core.

Brexit was the clearest example of self sabotage by an electorate in modern history. For mainstream politicians to continue to avoid that central truth tells us every about the state of so called mainstream political parties. Labour are too scared stand up as it’s all about remaining in govt.

He is in the FAFO stage. EU, NATO, UK and other allies need to tread carefully here so that a) We dont get sucked into the next Vietnam b) We can still operate within whatever boundaries define our 'Alliance" with US going forward. Its pretty pants to be a leader atm.

So let me get this straight. Trump doesnt need us, thinks we are useless, along with EU and NATO. But now we are terrible friends and allies if we dont come and help clean up his potty.

Steve Witkoff“I think the President’s position is that we do plenty for Europe, plenty for the UK,in the area of trade,in the area of defence,in the area of the support we give to NATO. And I think sometimes the response back, the reciprocity back, is a little bit lacking...”

I struggle to comprehend the total abdication of anything resembling competency in the current US administration atm. I am genuinely at a loss to see how any, vaguely aware person in the US can look at this and think that everything is okay with this stance.

Similar Neil I do vote tactically and Lib Dem’s usually get the vote but I have to admit to liking the Greens principled stances, just tweak a bit to appeal more to the mainstream.

Being a natural progressive liberal type the Greens are increasingly appealing to me. With the emerging alignment of ‘middling powers’ à la Mark Carney I want to see a slightly different foreign policy that counters Russian aggression in Europe. Do that @zackpolanski.bsky.social and I’m in.

If this goes the way of other adventures in Persia and ends up being drawn out, who bets it could be used as a pretext for an “emergency” and therefore suspend mid terms? Jesus, I used to respond with tin foil hat memes when others said this but in today’s world it seems an inevitability!

Hard work and “rewards” how about being able to afford rent, put food on the table, have a bit of cash for entertainment are those “rewards” or what most generations since the Industrial Revolution just thought of as normal…?

Just another in a long line of reversals, climb downs, unforced errors from the Labour Govt. This one could gift Reform a lot of council seats. Starmer looks like he can’t make even the simplest of political moves without it blowing up in his face. He’s the Wile-e coyote of British politics.

Wrapping themselves in the flag to do this is just the worst. This lot are just too far gone. To go through the mental process of thinking it’s a good idea to protest the RNLI of all things.
