A tour de force study from Taipale&Yin labs. It expands the vocabulary of the Regulatory Code by adding 1131 TF:TF composite motifs that are different from the individual TF motifs. The new composite motifs are enriched in cell-type specific elements and active in vivo

We also integrate with human genetic data revealing cell types that contribute to both normal facial variation and craniofacial disease risk. There's even some evo devo tidbits including cell types that are likely to contribute to differences in human and neanderthal morphology
We do careful cell type and subtype identification revealing significant numbers of Cranial Neural Crest cells (CNCCs) from primary tissue for the first time. We also integrate with mouse and spatial human gene expression to identify specific subtypes of mesenchyme and ectoderm.
