whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!

Why Fascists Hate Sociology (opinion) The anti-sociology politicians are on to something in grasping the field’s power.

Why do fascists hate sociology? Because it makes transparent everything fascists don't want you to know. A sociological imagination makes us harder to control. Long live the sociological imagination.

A map graph showing the 62 countries that are autocratizing and democratizing in 2025. There are 44 autocratizing countries, while only 18 countries are democratizing. Autocratizing countries can be found in all parts of the world, including North America and Western Europe. The map graph also shows that there are many large countries autocratizing, such as the USA and India, while most countries democratizing are small, with the exception of Brazil, Poland and Thailand.

Yesterday, those who teach Intro to Sociology at Florida colleges (as opposed to universities) received a ready-made curriculum from the state and were ordered to teach it.

Yes, you read that correctly. The *state* is enforcing a curriculum on college profs, complete w/ the following restrictions:

Gender studies courses are shutting down across the US. The Epstein files reveal why | Joan Wallach Scott Texas A&M University is the latest school to end women’s and gender studies programs and teaching race. We know why

This is a lucid analysis of the present context, though I for one disagree with the concept of “toxic masculinity” since it’s focusing individuals rather than the system.

“The suppression of gender studies is not only an attempt to suppress a critical analytical tool, but also knowledge itself.“

A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.

Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

How the Trump Administration Is Downgrading Women’s Citizenship Gender isn’t just a matter of individual identity. It’s an axis of governance—and for the last year, across a range of policies, the Trump administration has punished women.

As the Trump admin removes safety nets, DEI programs, abortion, paid leave & childcare, caregiving is recast as women’s duty. Women bear the cost: privatize costs, impose costs on households & push the consequences onto women. @sorayachemaly.bsky.social www.thenation.com/article/acti...
