Hope you are seeing good attendance and fully supportive of the prime time screening idea
I shared this video

Went to the @nebriefing.bsky.social screening this evening. Very well communicated. Encourage people to share in your communities
Found myself watching this today
For someone who is a dog fan and an aspiring fell runner…. It’s quite the video
and should probably come with an emotional warning 🥲
youtu.be/I_bVHR1sRyY?...
I’m jumping on YouTube this evening for a Live hour or so… would be great to see you there

This climate communicator has put out a video about NIMBYism towards solar in the UK icyi. @johnsmillie42.bsky.social

Thanks for sharing Kevin
Or @chrisstark.bsky.social would be a good voice on UK stuff
It looks like tomorrow could be even better….!
Perfect for Easter roast!
I joined in for a day as a group of activists relayed from G7 talks in Cornwall, up to the COP negotiations in Glasgow.
Interesting to reflect on progress in those 4.5 years
Drove past a nearly finished Solar Farm near Stockton today, realised when I looked at my photos when I got home that it is just off the route we took on a climate march to COP in Glasgow back in 2021.
My column in @thenortherneco.bsky.social for this month today on what makes 2026 different to the energy crisis in 2022.
thenortherneco.substack.com/p/this-energ...
More renewable energy, less fossil fuel demand - does that mean we are shielded from the worst of the crisis?
A tour de force of all the issues every thing that is going on. Very impressive!
Between 1980 & 1990, privatised U.K North Sea oil and gas raised £166 billion in tax.
The Conservative Party used it to halve income tax for top earners.
Norway used their publicly-owned oil & gas revenues to fund 1st class services and establish the world’s largest Sovereign Wealth Fund.
Fossil fuel crises before the 2020s left consumers with three options:
1. Switch fuel if possible
2. Pay more if you can find fuel
3. Cut fuel use
Fossil fuel crises after the 2020s give new affordable options:
4. Install cheap solar panels and batteries
5. Buy electricity-consuming devices

Question for the hive mind:
If councils that have declared a climate emergency actually started acting like it was an emergency, what would they be doing? What messaging and prioritisation of services/projects would be see? 🚨🤔
What are you planning?!
One stop shop for advice on Low carbon tech / retrofit
Utilising land for biodiversity + tree planting
Subsidy for public transport? (Outside of powers?)
Bike storage
Identify high emitters in area, work with them on strategy
Share best practice with neighbours
Lobby Westminster
Great question Ed! Some thoughts from me…
Asking DNO about infrastructure strategy - does an area have enough power to supply heat pumps, EV charging etc?
Alter road infrastructure to prioritise active travel and public transport (reduce speed limits)
Public information campaigns about heat pumps
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/76...
Anyone want to sign my petition to government?
Instead of subsidizing fossil fuel purchases to help households with suddenly higher bills
The government should instead install renewable alternatives such as ASHP or 0% loans for EVs and solar.
youtu.be/00biheWi4oY?...
Why more North sea oil and gas will be expensive, hard to extract, won't reduce bills, leaves us reliant on a dwindling supply
From @tom-s-bray.bsky.social
Yeah really interesting!
I visited a Dalkia project at North Tyneside Hospital. Which was a massive dual stage (air to water, water to water) heat pump and a huge solar array. Seemed to be a good approach there. Hopefully they do something similar at the British museum!

Looking forward to @tom-s-bray.bsky.social low carbon book club discussing @hannahritchie.bsky.social second book.
Very well researched and great answers to many climate questions
📣 An exciting day today at The Northern Eco - a new writer for this new year! @tom-s-bray.bsky.social joins the team to bring subscribers a monthly look at reducing carbon emissions.

Got a couple of meetings in London on Dec 10th - would love to fill the day, any Blue-Sky connections around to say hello?
Yeah you’re absolutely right, I think I probably rushed the video out and thought to myself… should I add some graphics…? And decided not too. I think it would have added a lot of value. And even a screen shot of www.electricitybills.uk would have helped! Must do better!!
I am hosting a Low Carbon Book Club and our first session will be at the end of this month (date TBC) - more details here - www.sb-energy.co.uk/bookclub/
Sign up to join a group of people discussing the new book from Bill McKibben!
Visit to a client in Stockton today took me via two new Solar Farms on the edge of County Durham
From what I can tell they are separate ~49.9 MW developments within a few miles of each other
Significant projects near us!!
What are you planning this weekend?
The weather forecast is for wind in Scotland
So maybe charge your car overnight on Friday.
Or bake some bread on Saturday
Or boost your hot water
And if you are on Octopus Agile… you might be able to do all that for free
Thanks for sharing - big fan of your work!
