Bob Mitchum and Jane Russell were hyped as RKO’s answer to Bogie & Bacall. While their two-picture run didn’t move the needle, HIS KIND OF WOMAN (1951) is better than it should be, given Howard Hughes’ backstage meddling. A fun, loopy hangout movie. Airs tonight on #NoirAlley. #TCMParty

Happy 50th anniversary to “All the President’s Men” — a film that owes its existence to Redford, who bought the film rights, developed the script and cajoled a reluctant Woodward & Bernstein.
I thought it was “a great character study,” he said later. But, for months, “they didn’t return my calls.”

Remembering and celebrating the great Ivan Dixon, trailblazing Emmy-nominated actor, filmmaker, and producer, on his 95th birthday, beloved for roles in SOMETHING OF VALUE, PORGY AND BESS, A RAISIN IN THE SUN, NOTHING BUT A MAN, A PATCH OF BLUE, CAR WASH, THE TWILIGHT ZONE, THE FUGITIVE, and more.
Thanks for the explanation. I was watching from another room and caught the disclaimer but not the clue. Was wondering why that appeared.
Hey Wisconsin folx. There is an election tomorrow. If you haven’t voted already, make it a point to. Looking at you ladies. They don’t want you to be Able to vote. All the more reason to do it.
Black-and-white portrait of Wilma Mankiller. She sits outdoors on a rough wooden bench against a weathered adobe wall, hands calmly clasped in her lap, gazing directly at the camera with a steady, resolute expression. Her dark hair is shoulder-length and slightly wavy; she wears a tailored blazer over a blouse, a long pleated skirt, and simple earrings. Scattered leaves on the ground. The image radiates quiet strength, deep connection to land and heritage, and the dignity of a trailblazing Native American woman leader.
Remembering Wilma Mankiller, the first woman elected Principal Chief of the #Cherokee Nation, who died #OTD in 2010.
Mankiller was known for her accomplishments in education, healthcare, and government reform. #NativeAmerican

Tonight I started off by making a 1934 recipe for Lemon Mousse attributed to actress and pioneering director Ida Lupino.
I originally made this with my friend Donna Hill. We bonded over our love of food and film. I miss her so much, but I cherish my memories. 🍋🎥🎬🎞️
Wisconsin Supreme Court justices have a profound responsibility: protecting the rights of the people and delivering on the promise of equal justice under the law. Judge Chris Taylor is the only candidate running for Wisconsin’s Supreme Court with a proven record of delivering on that promise.

This is probably Edward Hopper’s most famous cinema scene. As with many of Hopper’s female subjects, this figure was inspired by his wife, Jo, who posed under a lamp in the hall of their apartment. Drawing from the numerous sketches of his favorite movie houses, such as the Palace, Republic, Globe, and Strand, Hopper designed every tiny detail of this interior to faithfully reflect the real venues, including the pattern of the carpet. The star of this scene, however, is the usherette lost in her own thoughts. Edward Hopper had a rare gift for capturing the theatre in all its quiet allure—captivating, glamorous, and hauntingly empty.

The fight didn't end with Dark Waters. GENX shows how North Carolina became ground zero for polluters swapping chemicals in the Cape Fear River. Proud of Eli and Sammy’s 9 year mission to close the PFAS loop. Help us break the cycle. Host a community screening.

A vibrant, stylized logo for the Cascadia International Women's Film Festival, rendered in a bold, nature-inspired design. The central graphic features two overlapping film reel shapes forming mountain peaks: one in bright teal green on the left and one in vivid orange on the right, symbolizing cinema and the Pacific Northwest's Cascadia region. The reels are angled to create a triangular mountain silhouette, with small white evergreen tree silhouettes rising from a soft gray base at the bottom, evoking forested landscapes beneath a pale circular sun or moon outline. Below the graphic, the festival name appears in stacked, uppercase text: "CASCADIA" in large, solid green letters, followed by "INTERNATIONAL" in smaller gray, then "WOMEN'S FILM FESTIVAL" in gray below that. The overall color palette—green, orange, gray, and white—conveys energy, creativity, environmental connection, and celebration of women filmmakers. The design is clean, modern, and emblematic of an inclusive, regionally rooted film festival focused on women's voices in cinema.
