A super interesting question. I’m a passable Portuguese speaker but not good enough for anything other than a brief email. I never thought how good a result I could get from Gen AI in Portuguese.

I’d love to see these two wonderful men speak here in the UK.
Had a long conversation with my sister last night about this. She’s a lawyer and I’m tech/finance. We both use genAI heavily, however we take ownership of content, prompting in recursive patterns until work is good. She’s smart and won’t put up with slop. The key: you produce the work *aided* by AI.
This Palantir thing is really weird and absolutely something to worry about. The people who write this stuff have direct control over things that impact all of us.
That said there are some grains of truth buried in amongst the arrogant nonsense. Those grains are debased by proximity.
A wren in the Temperate House, Kew Gardens.
Yup. Kids definitely don’t need to have this thrust in their faces.
Thank you for writing it.
This, about the synagogue petrol bombing in North London is perfect written. Neither a word nor a sentiment is out of place.
Thank you for posting
Yeah. And there are silly political arguments to be had too.
I’ve seen one of these, incidentally when we stopped to charge our EV driving home to the UK from Switzerland. Super impressive. Why on earth aren’t we doing it in the UK?
My son, who compared to
Me can actually play chess, tells me that the games depicted were replays of actual moves from significant matches. Lovely attention to detail.
I have Lebanese friends and Israeli family. I wish this would stop. Immediately.
A good statement. Above all, after 50 years or so of awfulness, the two countries need to chalk and carry on talking. Talking is far better than bombing.
I think you need a lower carbon form of transport.
A strong thread. Most of us throw opinions around without informing ourselves. Unlike me, Helene doesn’t do that. A very well informed note on the need for 🇬🇧 to get serious on defence.
This is the stupidity of the whole thing. Biden had a stutter and clearly physically slowed down. That’s it. It amounted to nothing.
Was brother in law to my grandmother’s aunt. Obviously we cherish the successful ones, no matter how tenuous the connection.
Shinwell?
GitHub CoPilot. It’s a different thing used by professional software developers. It’s paid for and has a full set of Ts&Cs. There’s a switch allowing you to deny access to learn from your work. And believe me, it is your work, albeit aided by LLMs.
The tech industry is endlessly concerned about IP.
Good question. We’re using GitHub Copilot on a plan that protects IP. We pay for what we use and select the models we prefer and consequent pricing at the point of use.
Carsten, history is so yesterday.

I forgot one last thing. It’s kind of you to refer to me as a winner, however that’s not yet proven for this business.
… and a greater chance of success in our upcoming launch than if we were doing it all longhand. That’s how we started because AI tools weren’t much assistance at the outset of our business journey.
My point is that outright rejection of these tools as “slop” is no smarter than tedious evangelism.
Zero jobs. I’m an unfunded startup. So zero investor cash, just the work that my business partner and I put in - obviously unpaid. We have no funds to pay employees, so if we don’t do the work, it doesn’t get done. This *tool* enables us to have higher ambition and 🧵1
Ketchup, you heathens.
And vinegar. Always vinegar.
I have a tech startup, just two of us, both in the very latter stages of our careers. What we’re doing with these tools is mind boggling. We care about actual, solid results, and we know what’s good versus bad.
So my view of the utility for AI to achieve positive results is based on my experience.
Again making myself unpopular, he’s actually not wrong.
Whether his outfit is the right one to sort the issues is somewhat moot. AI is here to stay. Producing drivel is the fault of the person using the AI model, not the model. You can do amazing things with this tech in pursuit of decent goals.
Tony, super uncharacteristically I’m going to disagree with you. I don’t know Hiro, but will review them. Their thesis, which I’ll take at face value in the absence of a reason not to, is broadly a good one. If we don’t have VCs like them, Europe is long term screwed.
