Another veritable institution comes to a close. The (indie) games industry feels like its having a crisis communitywise, but somehow a golden age of profitabilty and creativity.
I just hope our up and coming generation can continue in the steps of the people that got us this far.

in my experience game developing in montreal, the french people are and the canadians aren't. I also dislike the "harmful expensive substance aids socialization" factor, but eh, worse coping mechanisms do exist
stop laughing.
a little bit of liquor with friends really does grease the gears, and while I might not smoke anymore, I carry a pack on social events bc the smoker circle is the best source of friends
I need to figure out how to do scrapes and dirt spray on these cars. I faked it and its got aura. #screenshotsaturday
Car Deformation was the funniest feature I added to my game lmao, look at this squished baby
I have done yet another build full of incremental mechanics upgrades. Beautiful, but I have to actually make levels or music sometime soon.
BETON BRUTAL has turned three, and to celebrate I have cooked up the biggest update yet!
You can now make custom maps very dynamic and interactable thanks to the new trigger system.

do we even do #screenshotsaturday anymore? well, here's some footage of me sliding a Yellowbird around.
Yeah, that year I literally couldn't go with a free ticket bc I wouldn't have the flight ticket money in my bank account let alone other expenses, even with ticket+lodgings covered. Going this year, the NFT stuff has been replaced with AI stuff, but devs themselves remain super amazing to be around
These new camera angles and particles are working beautifully to make this game pretty as hell #indiedev #madewithunity
Hey!
Added a new car. It's SO fun.
all that being said, I found your post very insightful and wanted to congratulate you on the award, apologize for yapping, and assure you I am currebtly buying Perfect Tides.
Gamedevs are exceedingly friendly and open and cool people, but to get all that you have to be able to afford gdc in the first place, and if a 18-30yi can, or get comped, they still dont get to fully integrate with the sorta people who can pull them up. There's some strata to it
What I most noted as 'sucks' is that since its gotten more expensive and juniors have gotten more precarious, there is a split between the million students/micro indies, and the people with a Name. 2 years in AAA and community mean I got to see both, and that split is heartbreaking.
Light Baking, and a myriad small fixes/changes/additions, 48 hours left. The pre-GDC horrors are unending.
getting the lighting to not be too flat or too dark simultaneously has me in the femur breaker
bogos binted ahh game #gamedev
ive crashed all the way out to trying to full indie
Bouncy Car Funny #screenshotsaturday #gamedev
jc denton on 4 beers would be an evening to remember
I am having too much fun racing my AI and need to make the game, wish me luck. #gamedev

I refer to 6am as evening now apparently, thats what having both hdrp and urp in the same project will do to you folks.
my unity project is exploding so bad this evening that I am on the verge of also exploding
yeah, tell me about it!
volumetric lighting, two different bloom shaders, ss-lens flare, frame accumulation motion blur, dynamic panini projection and lens distortion, this kinda does everything
