Universities can be shit at video comms, but I don't think the fault lies with academics. The issue is a culture in academia that doesn't really reward creative engagement. There are great academic YouTubers and content creators - but they have to figure it all out and do it on their own.

Most academics shy away from the idea of having a brand. But it was great to chat with @thesiswhisperer.bsky.social recently, discussing all things academic identity. Basically, if you don't go to the effort of curating your own brand you can end up corporatised. Article link in the comments.
