A code block labeled "A Common Bug (in compiled extension modules)." The code shows an attempt to exit a calculation of a large array of random numbers, and then indicates that a Ctrl+C interrupt takes 3.5 seconds to return, rather than returning immediately as is probably the desired and expected behavior.

Have you ever started a Python process, realized that you made a mistake, immediately hit Ctrl+C to interrupt it and then waited a surprisingly long time to get the command line back?

This delay is caused by a bug in the compiled #Python extension.

There are rumors that a mysterious sticker will be distributed at #PyConUS. Some say it is just another piece of swag, but if you stare long enough, it appears to be hiding a secret.

If you’re the kind who can't resist pulling on loose threads just to see what unravels, keep an eye open for it!

4 12x18 inch posters on a brick and concrete wall. The top left is pink and says funding science saves lives, written in microbes, next to a microscope. The one on the right says Biology is bigger than binaries, with a fish, a lily, and a bee. The bottom left says Protecting wildlife starts wtih you, with a bunch of adiorable woodland creatues in yellow, white and black, including an owl, fungi, a... um. weasel? salamanders, butterflies, slugs, and a rotting log. The bottom right says Will our oceans thrive or nosedive the choice is yours, with the ocean represented in a circle, half of which is dead and half of which is alive, including kelp and a mackerel

I just played it, very nice, really enjoyed it. Thanks for making it available! Wished it was longer 😆. Only comment I have is a minor detail, I had to stop in the middle and my phone reloaded the page so I had to start again from the beginning. Again, minor.

These initiatives are inspired by recent reports that scientific data...

As folks are embarking on all these data rescue / refuge projects, I hope they're heeding the lessons from the 2016/17 teams -- e.g.,

The hardest working font in Manhattan A story of a 150-year-old font you have never heard of – and one you probably saw earlier today.

I think every designer should write a love letter to a font at least once in their lifetime.

This is mine: A 150-year-old font you have likely never heard of, and one you probably saw earlier today.

Our culture is so obsessed with productivity right now that, if the outcome of an investment cannot be isolated and measured, it's value is not recognized. Projects and initiatives that produce results over time or in indirect ways are simply discarded aside as pointless.
