My goodness, what wide-ranging interests Alime has: politics, physics, many genres of music, other people's baby pictures... I did wonder if DM's would be her next step. Wonder who built her

Man, I remember those days. Scoring some Lyapunov exponents off a dodgy geezer in a pub; gathering at midnight on a disused airfield, five thousand strong, to bifurcate and bifurcate until the feigenbaums kicked in... It sounds so sordid now, but we were young and it was beautiful.
Baffling. #neoliberalism
Do not die like this!
Coniferous trees in a sunless forest, branches shrouded in mossy strands
In the dark, dank forest
but it depends what you want - this would be good enough for many people and many purposes
I let the phone camera do what it wanted. Venus is a bigger, blurrier dot than it should be and the Moon's crescent also is too thick. A camera would give you much more control as well as finer detail - you wouldn't want to print this any decent size. It's a nice snapshot, souvenir of a moment

Sehr danke!
Crescent moon with earthshine plus Venus - at the upper edge of a thin, dark cloud. Twilight sky beneath, chimney pots and trees along the skyline
Not at home so a phone snapshot is the best I can do. But what a beautiful evening! Get out and enjoy #Venus and the beautiful crescent #Moon (with #earthshine). Picturesquely placed cloud too, here anyway #astronomy
it’s weird how “having a job that isn’t actively evil” now feels like a genuine luxury
When you think of your experiences of learning, you might remember sitting at a desk in a quiet classroom.
But lifelong learning is different. It isn’t just about what you’re learning, but the people you’re learning with too.

they're lovely, aren't they? And I didn't go looking for any particularly favourable time, there are always nice examples when the Sun is active. Magnetic field lines take on the character of structures in the plasma of the high-temperature corona
false colour representation of the hot solar atmosphere as seen in ultraviolet light by Solar Dynamics Observatory, AIA instrument. Several bright loops in the middle, tops above the limb (edge of the disk!) of the Sun
here are some coronal loops, extending over the limb of the Sun, as seen just now by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (false colour representation of ultraviolet light). Stock-in-trade for us, despite the funny jargon :-)

Here's how to drink tea Gagarin-style. Make black tea (let's go with Russian Caravan) and put a slice of lemon in it. Let the lemon infuse, sip your tea, then eat the lemon!

There's a popular myth that Yuri Gagarin saw the Great Wall of China from space - but it's not true! In this post, I delve into the heritage significance of things seen from space. 🧪 🏺 #YurisNight

Wow. This is so evocative - really makes you imagine looking down from space with Yuri Gagarin's eyes ....

'the Moon certainly does not possess a smooth and polished surface, but one rough and uneven, and, just like the face of the Earth itself, is everywhere full of vast protuberances, deep chasms, and sinuosities'.

daft. That's more than enough flat-earthery for me. Thanks! - I think

I've had a lot of conversations with national security-focused colleagues in recent weeks, and come to believe we are wildly underestimating the chance Trump goes nuclear against Iran. I think it's about three percent — which is an astoundingly high chance. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/is-trump-a...
