Not sure what kind of religion finds the presence of God in attacking cops. Must have missed that one.

America, what the fuck is wrong with you? Why hasn't this evil man been tossed on the trash heap of history? Every day, another outrage goes by, and still he bulldozes his way to making your country less and less moral.

Trump administration begins refunding more than $166bn in tariffs Claims system launches months after supreme court ruled Trump had no legal authority to impose tariffs

So you and I and everyone else are in effect now refunding American corporations for import tariffs, although we paid for most of them in the form of higher prices — which they won’t now lower because they have monopoly power to keep prices high.

It seems that the replacement of a female government worker by another white guy is a constant of the current U.S. regime.

That looks like something to add to my list. I'm just starting Han Kang's novel The Vegetarian. For non-fiction, I have The Ancient Greek Hero in 24 Hours (somewhat academic and very repetitive) and the much lighter The Mesopotamian Riddle by Joshua Hammer on the go.

"Coffee is undoubtedly the problem; but also, so dazzlingly, the solution." – Rosalind Brown in her novel Practice. (Truth, that.)

If the federal government wants to really help Canadians, perhaps it could pair its temporary gas tax cut with the announcement of a major, continuing renewable energy program.

In a First for the U.S., Renewables Generate More Power Than Natural Gas In March, for the first time, renewables supplied more power to the U.S. than natural gas, a milestone in the transition to clean power. However, rising power demand is complicating the shift away from fossil fuels by extending the lives of many aging coal power plants.

In a first last month, renewables supplied more power to the U.S. than natural gas, a milestone in the shift to clean energy.

I'm re-reading Alain De Botton's Religion for Athiests (and wondering what I ever originally saw in it) and Witold Rybczynski's Home, which is wonderful.

Image of The Vancouver Sun's July 21, 1969 wrap, with the newspaper's name changed to The Moon! and the headline MAN WALKS ON THE MOON. Under that is one image of Neil Armstrong stepping on to the surface of the moon, and a second image of Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walking around the lunar surface.

Am reminded of this July 21, 1969, "lunar supplement" from The Vancouver Sun, which changed its name to The Moon! for a wrap the day after Apollo 11 reached the moon

Well, if the pipelines aren’t full, why do we need new ones?

We could do this in Canada.

Here in BC, especially, it would be extremely easy to implement. Most builders are already installing heat pumps. And many companies are now selling solar.
