Can anyone recommend a history of " the candy striper"? A memoir would also be great. The wiki footnotes are failing me. @nursingclio.bsky.social

Well since we’re vibing: have you listened to M. Gessen’s The Idiot? It describes a world I’m familiar with (Soviet Jewish community in MA, by way of husband) and so listened with interest. But I dunno. It didn’t hit for me.

Any podcast recommendations? I’m looking for a serialized episodes of offbeat history or high class true crime. Other than the obvious ones from serial/nyt, I’ve liked Hysterical, Winds of Change, and the nerdy one about the Boston lottery.

Tooze is a get of course. But the history-friendly outlets should have been interested (Dissent, Aeon, BR, Atlantic). Hell, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists!
