‘People still remember it 40 years later’: the making of Chuckie Egg The iconic game that came to define 8-bit programming still conjures flutters of nostalgia 40 years on – all thanks to a 15-year-old tea boy who worked a Saturday shift in a computer shop in Greater M...

Hi I wrote about the making of classic platformerChuckie Egg and talked to its creator Nigel Alderton. Please give it a read as I want to show there’s an audience for this gaming history stuff 🙏

"yes of course he's rubbish but have you seen the absolute state of literally anyone else who could become prime minister soon" is exactly my brand of Starmtrooperism

Miscellanea: The War in Iran This post is a set of my observations on the current war in Iran and my thoughts on the broader strategic implications. I am not, of course, an expert on the region nor do I have access to any spec…

Well, I am not sure what my analysis here is worth, but here is my 7,500 word primal scream of a military historian's take on the War in Iran.

My best summary: this war is dumb as hell.

We should reconsider the term „energy crisis“ when speaking about the effects of the Iran war.
This is very specifically a crisis of fossil fuels and their single point of failure. Fossil fuels are no longer synonymous with „energy“. We have other, better options.

I just noticed there's a giant fusion reactor in the sky. We could probably get some energy from that if oil is a problem

thank you for the confirmation that "ultraprocessed food" is a completely bullshit category: if you're eating NINE SERVINGS of doughnuts and chips every day then of course you're going to be unhealthy
