R.I.P. the great J.H. Prynne 🖤
i read a novel and it was good (and particularly amusing for those who have been in or around the TLS over the years)
Hi I wrote about the making of classic platformerChuckie Egg and talked to its creator Nigel Alderton. Please give it a read as I want to show there’s an audience for this gaming history stuff 🙏

has anyone in our very serious press corps addressed the question of whether Mandelson was a good or bad ambassador
"yes of course he's rubbish but have you seen the absolute state of literally anyone else who could become prime minister soon" is exactly my brand of Starmtrooperism
it does seem a little steep but of course such good books are still excellent value at the price. your latest is a steal at £30!
very kind, thank you!
Forget euphemism, Trump is using unabashed viciousness in his language against Iran

i'm sorry but what is Microsoft Outlook doing on a spaceship
haha the last line of this report is brilliant
so, since the Iran war started, have any leftist westerners been spotted chanting "Death to the USAF"?
Well, I am not sure what my analysis here is worth, but here is my 7,500 word primal scream of a military historian's take on the War in Iran.
My best summary: this war is dumb as hell.

French General Richoux being frank about Trump
i can't believe we are already memory-holing Jamie Foxx's absolutely definitive Tubbs from (checks notes, fuck me) 20 years ago
We should reconsider the term „energy crisis“ when speaking about the effects of the Iran war.
This is very specifically a crisis of fossil fuels and their single point of failure. Fossil fuels are no longer synonymous with „energy“. We have other, better options.
I just noticed there's a giant fusion reactor in the sky. We could probably get some energy from that if oil is a problem
RIP the great Jenni Murray: I once got to pimp a book on Woman's Hour and she was every bit as warm.and welcoming as a poor scribbler might hope
look! the government did an unambiguously good thing!!
hahahahaha
thank you for the confirmation that "ultraprocessed food" is a completely bullshit category: if you're eating NINE SERVINGS of doughnuts and chips every day then of course you're going to be unhealthy
RIP Len Deighton: the Samson nonalogy is superb and every bit as good as Le Carré
Sinners is a far better movie than One Battle After Another but ok
