The internet to @ianlandsman.com: LET CALEB COOK

Started building a new app in #Django, fully templated and server-side rendered (with #HTMX to come for interactivity), and...

I'm just enjoying it. It's easy to build incrementally when my brain wants to work on it. The frontend is painless. It's fun.

Always thinking about that second things opens up new paths, new connections.

It’s good for inspiration and, of course, for productivity! (You’re literally doing two things at once)

So if you are building a site and you come across something interesting, use the work to generate content- a blog post or a video or even a tweet

This focuses the project and puts you in the shoes of the person using it as well as the person building it

But also: two things at once might mean creating content

You can do this with your projects. If you are building a design, build it for two sites in mind, or even at the same time.

If you are building a library, build an app that uses it

First: what do I mean?
Well it’s like what good writers and filmmakers do. Every scene has at least two things happening

Every. Day. Like I welcome the inspiration of ideas but need some balance on execution

Hard to decide what to build
1. Hype cp (hypermedia examples)
2. Hype ui (hypermedia ui kit)
3. Hype apps (mobile app framework)
4. Actual apps (to sell for $)
5. Improve existing apps
6. Create video content (htmx tips & tricks)
7. Htmx course

So many viable ideas. Only so many hours in the day!

Estimate how many months it was since the last time it printed. Divide that number by 4. That’s how many times you will need to unplug or restart your printer before it will suddenly work.

FYI the creator is a big proponent of not breaking anyone’s apps, so the versions have very minor changes, and he errs on the side of not auto updating peoples apps! Highly recommend trying it out if you like writing html

Really enjoying using it! One nice thing, npm package generally not necessary

Trying something new: building a whole site from start to finish on youtube. Every episode is a git commit

Is it too boring to see all the little things? I have no idea, you tell me! That’s why it’s an experiment
