I haven't posted since that last bombshell so here's an update.
I'm fine, mostly. I've been working on my gmod map and been chilling. April 1st marked 10 years of me making hl1 gmod maps.

My dad passed away today. 8:30 AM EST, according to my sister.
I've watched him decline for over a year, so it's not entirely unexpected. It isn't any easier though.
Here's a thing he did for one of my maps back in 2022. It's lyrics from Drift Away, since my dad used to be a rock and roll drummer.
Uh oh it's gotten even cozier.
More progress on the topside dormitories. And yes, monitors really did come with speakers like that sometimes in the 90's.

It's weird how only Minecraft gets this excuse too. Game updates on Steam are free too but these same people would be rightfully upset if one of their favorite Steam games had a terrible update.

I'm finding it really hard to be excited because OBM has reset several times. I have no faith that what's being shown here will still be there some months or a year from now.

All that said, Portal 2's gameplay is still fun as hell.
Portal 2 throws that all out the window before GLaDOS even wakes up. Suddenly BTS areas are completely exaggerated and seemingly serve no purpose than to scare people afraid of heights, the chambers after her wakeup are spotless, and now she's basically a god to this place.
Portal 1 felt more grounded in reality. Chambers being mostly clean but having dirty spots, the BTS areas feeling like they have actual use, and GLaDOS not having total god-like control over the facility. You got the feeling the place was designed for humans to work in.

Kinda goes to show how much we still don't know about the alpha. Unlike Half-Life 2, there wasn't some mega leak, just some press and beta test CDs. I wish Valve would show off more, if they even still have all that stuff.
