She begged Aphrodite for forgiveness, instead she was punished.

Psyche visited the slumbering Eros in his chambers. Wielding a lamp, she sought to gaze upon his true form.

As he became revealed in the light, a drop of oil from Pyche's lamp burned onto his flesh, waking him.

With the feeling of Betrayal in his heart, he fled back to his mother Aphrodite.
