Version 1.3.1: So many fixes! Français à la suite, Norsk til slutt English I was quite happy with version 1.3.0, it had quite a few significant changes and felt overall like a much sleeker experience. Then recently the game was...

Regarding real cars, there's also things like feeling the gforce when turning/accelerating/breaking that tells you a lot of things, or feeling when you lost adherence through the pedals and steering wheel floaty-ness... even with force feedback you don't get all of that in a simulator.

And added some "information box" when hovering on the title of the magazine.

I'm experimenting with content search in the Oric library.

With this, the only two remaining missing (known) French books are these two:
- Jasmin (livre vert) from T.R.A.N.
- Tours de Forth from Eyrolles

We now have the Oric 1 version of "Jeux et programmes pour l'ordinateur Oric 1", the main difference is the presence of the "Krypton" program from Pascal Pieroni which is missing from the Atmos version.

No but no all distro are equivalent in term of out of box experience, software available on the package manager, how good/horrible/up-to-date the packages are, how often you end up with something broken or not, some are optimized for modern architectures, some support old stuff, etc...

"Moob"?

Well, I guess I'm going to spend a couple weeks looking at my options!

What's sure is that I will not switch to Windows 11 at home, having to use it at work is enough of a punishment, and I can't reasonably stay on Windows 10 for too long.

Interesting, does that mean that tab autocomplete in the terminal will not complain anymore because I did not remember if the file was called "Something" or "something"?

It's not really that I'm 100% about performance, but I paid a premium for multicore CPU, SSD and high end GPU, and I'm a demomaker/gamer at the core, so I'd rather have something that feels snappy , like opposite of Windows 11 if you want 😅

I guess in 2026 chatbots can help if needed?

I've been suggested to try "Cachy OS", from what I understand it's Arch based?

I did not dislike Mint, but it had problems with some of my hardware, at some point for some reason, after an update my wifi chipset on my laptop was not supported anymore!

Granted, that was quite a few years ago.

Ubuntu has been annoying me with the frequent changes of look and feel over the years, and at some point my LTS system self destroyed when updating to the next LTS.

At last now we have LLM to help with common issues!

I know I can't avoid it, I dislike basically the entire Unix part, case sensitive file system where you can have "readme.txt" and "README.TXT" in the same folder, but at that point Windows is a trash fire so I just will have to deal with it!

Over the years I've tried Ubuntu and Mint, what would be the recommended distro now for someone who spent decades using Windows, don't particularly like linux but has reached the point where looking at Windows getting worse and worse is not possible anymore?

PS: No MacOS...

It's not really a Norwegian stop watch, it's more to indicate the player that the 2 hours time limit they have to complete the game is paused while they access the help screen :)

And the same but for Norwegian language.

A reviewer of the game pointed out that Encounter did not have the "X" (for examine) command, so I added that, and realized also that my help system did not even mention that there was a selection menu.

Here is the new layout for English and French, does that work for you?🤔

I somehow had forgotten to remove this placeholder location I used while developing Encounter... it's now gone so I now have an additional 768 bytes I can use 🥳

That has more to do with the blur added by bsky, it's just some pixel art conversion of a megabuilding.

I'm not trying to show too much to not spoil the demo, but it's still only some Oric stuff in 240x224 in 8 colors, don't expect the moon 😅

a futuristic city at night with a sign that says ' netflix ' ALT: a futuristic city at night with a sign that says ' netflix '

Two months before Nova 2026 demo party. 😱

I don't know how far I'm going to go, but at least I've something that kind of work all together.

Just don't expect some crazy effects. that one is in my usual "demo-ish story" style! 😅

The problem is that at some point (soon), every single tools or frameworks, or helper tools, etc... is going to be somehow using some AI powered system. Heck, even the Photoshop "Content Aware" fill tool is kind of AI, so where does AI starts?

It's not going to be easy.

That's why I'm doing these things only for 8/16 bit platforms, I don't find doing demo stuff interesting with super powerful GPUs for example.

Important questions indeed, for demoscene productions, but also for games.

The whole classification system is becoming tricky.
