The Courtyard Downtown Silver Spring’s main entrance is on the third floor of a parking garage. Pedestrian access from the busy, walkable street it faces is via a locked door, intercom, and the world’s slowest elevator. Utterly awful and insulting when it’s just a 7-minute walk from the DC Metro!

Reddit poster: I also think it’s important to add that when I asked the MTA cop why if my bank or the OMNY service doesn’t have their stuff together that I’m the one who gets banged up about it and he asked me what bank I use and I told him and he literally said “oh! Yeah you’re the fourth person today with that problem.” Which opens up another dimension of this issue. Why is the MTA enforcing fare evasion checks with a fare system that even their own officers know is faulty? It’s maddening.

17 days ago. The MTA fare inspectors KNOW that this system is faulty yet they continue to put the burden of proof on riders who have paid their fare.
