"Plant a stake crowned with flowers in the middle of a square; gather the people there, and you will have a festival. Do better yet; let the spectators become an entertainment to themselves; make them actors themselves." - Jean-Jacques Rousseau (Lettre à M. d'Alembert sur les spectacles, 1758)

The past 3-4 years I've been on a reading tear. I haven't had this much energy for books for a long time. Going through primarily Asian writers who are women, books in German something is definitely happening to my brain. Maintaining the same buzz reading every morning and evening, it really helps.
Tbh I don't have a particular fondness for any of the Chinese noodle shops in Berlin. They all taste the same to me and I just go into the one with the least amount of people and mission accomplished.
Still in awe about Gaga on SNL hosting and hitting the choreography in that little pop up stage-cage. She really went 0 to 10 for that and the little artfag in all of us should be so proud.
Last Sat. we popped in Split Fiction with friends & I could write a book about the emotions and experiences we went through for a group of gay friends sitting around helping each other surpass challenges one after another. Feeling super motivated for what's next for us in a non-venue environment.
Spent many nights falling asleep to glimmer vids on Saga

Also on the topic of theater, earlier in the year I got to see a production of Madame Bovary by the Staatsballet. It's back on the docket for a limited time again. Had to go back and reread the story again with the insane imagery here.

Had a chance to go to Schaubühne for the first time and saw this piece by Falk Richter. I admit sitting over 2 hours parsing through German dialogue was heavy on my brain. But not as difficult as sitting through Uni lectures as a student abroad in my early 20s.

I don't know why I didn't get a PS5 sooner. It is exactly the decompression I need when firing at all cylinders 40+ hours a week 🤯
"deeply, softly, like a mellow organ, but with a roughness in her voice like a grasshopper's, which rasped his spine deliciously and sent running up into his brain waves of sound"

One thing I love to do in NYC before flying out of JFK is to take the Q44-SBS bus from Jamaica Station to Flushing for Asian food before heading back to the airport. LIRR from Nostrand Ave to Jamaica station is only 14 mins.
Trains out of Germany to Paris have a lot of options this year.
There is a direct route from Berlin to Paris that takes 9 hours.
Or you can break that journey up (run errands on the side) with a train from Frankfurt, Stuttgart or Mannheim in 3 to 4 hours.
Karlsruhe is a little over 2 hours.
Aside from talking about all things related to train travel in Europe I'm also gonna use this space for randomness (like Square Enix, film and art). There had to get that off my chest :)
