Thank you so much to @adamjamesdance.bsky.social MP for supporting @salvationarmyuk.bsky.social's campaign to prevent drug deaths in the UK.

18 people die each day in the UK because of drugs- these deaths have increased by 66% in the last decade.

Today, @salvationarmyuk.bsky.social is delivering our petition to Downing Street, calling on the government to declare the crisis of drug deaths a public health emergency.

Looking forward to @salvationarmyuk.bsky.social and Hestia's parliamentary roundtable on making legislation work for survivors of modern slavery.

Struggling families and vulnerable people can't be expected to shoulder the burden of balancing the UK's finances. #SpringStatement

Survivors of modern slavery endure years of unimaginable trauma, but at the Salvation Army I saw hope and trust restored through the Dreams Choir. Beyond providing shelter and care, @salvationarmyuk.bsky.social offers community and healing.

We're apparently not the only species who are delayed on their commute by the British railway system. Poor ladybird.

It was a pleasure to meet the brilliant team at @andysmanclubuk

The work they do to prevent male suicide is vital. They help eliminate the stigma around mental health by creating a judgment-free, confidential space where men can be open about the problems in their lives (1/2).

Families First Struggling families can no longer rely on the welfare safety net to survive when they fall on hard times.

Govt figures show that over 7.5 million families with kids in the UK are in #poverty and that 1 in 9 children are now affected by the two child benefit limit.

Clearly, the two child limit is negatively impacting families and needs to be repealed.

With over 7.5 million families in the #UK living in poverty. The Government should use it's first #Budget to increase support for struggling families. #government #policy

This Friday is #AntiSlaveryDay.

For 13 years in England & Wales, The Salvation Army and our partners have helped over 20,000 people to escape modern slavery and rebuild their lives.

But we estimate that for every survivor able receive support in the UK, 13 more remain trapped here in exploitation.

The Bill is normally published or 'printed' after it's First Reading, unless they consult on the Bill itself beforehand.

‘Places to heal, not to harm’: why brutal prison design kills off hope The long read: From razor-wire fences and crumbling cells to no windows and overcrowding, conditions in most jails mean rehabilitation is a nonstarter. Here’s how we can create better spaces for priso...

Really interesting, and relevant, examination by @yvonnejewkes.bsky.social on how prisons can be better designed to foster rehabilitation and, therefore, reduce recidivisim rates. Better for people and society.

Great to visit the Croydon Citadel for their Employment Day.

For 134 years, The Salvation Army has been helping some of the most disadvantaged people in the UK to find work and improve their lives, and this continues today.

Household Support Fund vital but just a plaster on poverty The Fund’s extension is welcome but can’t prevent families falling into further crisis.

With so many households struggling to afford everyday essentials, the Govt should use the upcoming #autumnbudget to raise benefits in line with inflation and reform Universal Credit.
