When I lived in Clinch County GA a while in the 1970s I recall wondering how the hell I’d get myself & cats out of there if the paper company’s zillion-acre pine forests ever caught fire. Answer to self was “we’re screwed.”

W1AW/9 in Wisconsin and W1AW/0 in Iowa are in the log. The Iowa operator on 40 CW was working split. I haven't encountered any other W1AW specials working split on voice or CW. When I was calling, everybody understood the meaning of "UP."
W1AW/3 in Delaware and W1AW/7 in Idaho are in the log. Finding a Delaware whom I could hear and who could hear me turned out to be more of a challenge than I expected. Idaho, on the other hand, I got on the first call.
MI ON & PQ QSO parties this weekend. Had 4 QSO party logs going last weekend! Only made 2 dupes from having wrong one active. Took time off radio to see teen granddaughter in musical theater role. So proud of her. Arts education is important!
Oh that pesky 1st Commandment.
Both W1AW/5 in New Mexico and /7 in Washington are in the log. The /7 doesn't seem to be very active compared to the /5. Next week Idaho and Delaware are up. Two states with small ham populations but some of those hams are very proficient operators so it should be a fun chase.
They aren’t showing off what they suppose they’re showing off.
Got W1AW/4 /5 and /6 in the log tonight. Proficient ops with good signals. #ARRL
A nearby friend phoned this evening to say he just worked CY0S on 6m FT8 & wondered if I need it on 6? Yes I did. Once I remembered to switch onto the correct antenna I got them. No delusions about ever making DXCC on 6 but this will make 81 current on that band. Not bad for a little station!
I would have married my husband if he hadn’t owned a Selectric but it was, so to speak, a selling point.
Well done! I need it on all bands except 15 & 20. Saw people calling last night but couldn’t see the DX.
I would have liked to win Virginia in my category but was out-scored by 1700+ points. Years ago I placed 2nd in a QLF contest at a hamfest. Laughed at myself for being irritated at not winning a silly stunt thing. Competitive? Who, me?
Bands were poor for Virginia QSO Party but I was able to get a Sunday afternoon run going on 40 & made my goal of logging more QSOs than last year. Finally found the last special station to spell LOVERS for the tourist slogan “Virginia is for Lovers.”
Yesterday in Virginia QSO Party, 40 meters was dead as Monty Python’s parrot thus few in-state QSOs for county multipliers. 80 was somewhat useful after dark. Hoping today is better.
<giggle>
I need Sable only on 6 meters, the likelihood of that being similar to my being mistaken for the Princess of Wales. But a girl can dream, can’t I?
Spelling challenges in state QSO parties are big fun. This weeked the Idaho contest offered K7S K7P K7U K7D, and I just completed my SPUD -- slang for potato. For non-USA friends, Idaho is a major producer of this veggie. I think I'll see if there's one in the fridge to cook for my dinner.
I could copy them on 10 FT8 yesterday and called for a long time but no QSO.
W1AW/4 in Viginia is on the air. Go get 'em!
Congratulations on the ATNO! I haven’t been able to copy them yet for a ATNO but hope springs.
Or there’s a cask of Amontillado involved.
Been doing it a while. I’m a very little whistle but I have a lot of fun.
Not really boasting since I was the only high power entry from Virginia and several low power ops out-scored me. But rules are rules and I have to enter as HP because my rug runs 200w. It’s all just for fun.
I didn’t get your county - maybe next time. I was happy to get a GUI, where my daughter went to college.
North Carolina QSO Party was fun. I was hoping for a lot of new stations to work once the after-church folks got home and finished lunch but that didn’t happen. Still got about as many Qs as in SC party yesterday.
The South Carolina QSO Party was fun. From where I live, 40 and 80 are the only useful bands. Lots of good signals there on both SSB and CW. The dedicated cluster site for this contest was very helpful especially in finding mults. Tomorrow, on to chasing North Carolina.
I plan to play. Have fun!
I just got word that I had the top US/VE YL high power score in the 2025 California QSO Party.
How cool!
I have to enter as high power even though I don’t use an amplifier and put just 200 watts to the antenna. Rules are rules.
I belong to a contest club and especially enjoy state QSO parties. I also enjoy hunting Parks on the Air.
ARRL DX CW worked out well for me. I made my goal of at least 100 Qs on each of 10-40, plus some on 80. Haven't done that well in years and had a Yagi back then instead of a wire loop. Thinking kind thoughts for the friend who designed my loop.
