It’s Diners Drive-Ins and Dives (which, side note, was STUCK ON on the tv when I was in labor with my firstborn. Pushing)
Listen I had a piece of bread and a couple of my three-year-old’s apple slices also
How April is going: I am eating salami, cheese crisps, pickles, and SkinnyPop for dinner

I just loved this one!!!
All of this is going to end up in the next book, I can tell
Here ends today's theology mini-thread ⚓
I think particularly that last idea of "an agreed next action together" has the potential to defang some nasty Christian theology of forgiveness/reconciliation which doesn't have room for ongoing division as something that can still be an act of repair
-facilitators having "omni-partiality" to everyone involved in a process (this is a more useful concept of what we sometimes call God having "no partiality")
-repair means "an agreed next action together": even if that action looks more like boundary-setting than reconciliation, it's still TOGETHER
Particularly striking to me today (I'm thinking theologically as usual):
-"We are harmful people; we cause harm" a statement about human nature that offers the least judgmental theology of original sin I've ever seen (and which explains why the response to it is STRUCTURES to address harm
As always, @mskellymhayes.bsky.social is essential reading. organizingmythoughts.org/rupture-and-...
I have such a soft spot for neutrinos (my dad was in the MINOS and NOvA collaborations and I did undergrad research for MiniBooNE) and the experiments are soooo expensive because of all the digging 😭
Also, I am absolutely certain that housing number is not accurate in high-housing-cost metropolitan areas. (I subscribe formerly to the theory that the vibecession is largely due to “the rent is too damn high”)
I adore handbags but in optimizing my large/small purse flexibility I have gotten super hooked on nifty phone-wallet combo cases (I have this one) www.casebus.com/smartphone-c...

In my defense 1) I didn’t have children yet 2) that book was REALLY COMPLICATED
A reminder, because a new post went up today, that the Episcopal Migration Caucus is posting a meditation on the lectionary readings with reference to Migration With Dignity, every week: episcopal-migration-caucus.ghost.io/lectionary/ ⚓

ALSO I just looked at my notes again and fwiw I say less now than I did for THE MIRROR EMPIRE because you know how to make the changes without hand-holding now!
This is what annoyed me! Saying "I think the pope is wrong about this theological point" is actually FINE but it was just the most obnoxious and condescending way to do it.
Haha I forgot that! Anyway hopefully it is perfect now and I will have nothing more to say 😇
Is this a challenge, because I'm about to dive back in to the new version
(I'm SORRY I wrote so little, I'm TIRED these days and it's easier to just shorthand "make this better" than go into all the details lol)
I think what you want is circles of mutual support and accountability among candidates for ordination and that would be amazing but I just don’t think the current process is set up for it
It is true that communal discernment could use discussion among classmates and also that there is no chance it would work in our current adversarial and gatekeeping ordination process
❤️
Aaaaaaaah how did I miss you in my congratulations post! Congratulations!!
Omg I didn’t know Elsa had a new book I need it!!!
(I’m not the only one, but I sure won’t shut up about it!)
lol this one is easy, I’m “the abolition lady” ⚓️
One of the reasons I turned abolitionist was realizing that every form of detention and incarceration is DESIGNED to separate people from relationships of love and support, which create social stability.
