yeah even accessing what few generous resources exist (snap, section 8, ssdi) is a kafkaesque nightmare
oh yes i just mean it is stunningly easy to discharge debts here! so the risk of accruing them is much lower! the risk of having no money however remains quite high relative to any other country in our income bracket
it seems fairly clear that the american system produces more innovation and growth, in no small part because the consequences of failing professionally are pretty egregious. there’s no net to catch you
at the same time our generous bankruptcy system does let you start from scratch, so

i’ve been to london ~15 times for a cumulative total of 3 or 4 days, so anything that a first pass tourist would miss that’s still worthwhile. it’ll be winter but i love art & food & museums & wine & history

the argentine claim to the falkands is they should have the successor rights from the spanish claim, argentina has never had a territorial claim to the falkands, spain once had one with britain, argentina is not spain unless they plan to accept rule from madrid again (might be a good idea)
yeah that’s why you’d probably be a better teacher. my impulse in academics is to be brutal bc i think standards are wayyyy too low. even if she engaged with the text and did the assignment id give a C for the writing quality lol
if you drop in like a single quote from the OG text to prove she’s read it—C instead of F probably
yeah i fall on the side of her argument was germane to the course but deserved a failing grade for:
1) failing to engage in good faith
2) failing to refer directly to the text, which is requested in the prompt
3) failing to cite outside sources in the alternative
4) being written so very badly
i read the whole thing. it gestured at what she believed the argument to be but doesn’t actually engage & it doesn’t cite anything. it was also like 4th grade quality writing, but may be the norm for college freshmen nowadays
the drama is the right kicking up a storm for her failing the assignment, not realizing the assignment was to engage with the text (in agreement or disagreement) and she just completely failed to mention it or any of its arguments so the prof gave her a 0
oh gimme recs i’m there in two weeks

CTA will run out of money if the state legislature doesn’t get its shit together in the next ~40 hours btw
Just going to put it out there that appointing a CTA President with no transit experience, after the public has lost confidence in both the leadership at CTA in the past and the current Mayor, may not be the best move.
