California is importing refined products from abroad just as the Iran war tightens global crude oil supplies. Fuel made from Russian oil is surging into the state, even though such sales are used to finance that nation’s ongoing war with Ukraine.

Oil companies accused of massive accounting fraud in New Mexico • Source New Mexico A recently unsealed lawsuit in New Mexico district court claims ExxonMobil and others underreported debts by $194 million

“There’s an easy answer to this...If you really want to get this [orphan well] problem solved, you just require the operator to put up a full-cost bond.”

Turns out plugging bonds in NM are a joke...and a crime.

Outstanding reporting fm @jfern.bsky.social - again.

Hero rat who sniffed out over 100 land mines is honored with giant statue “Magawa was one of the best rats we’ve ever had,” said Michael Raine, who works for Apopo, a nonprofit that trains animals to detect land mines.

Magawa, an African giant pouched rat, sniffed out more than 100 land mines during his five-year career as a mine-detector in Cambodia.

To honor his bravery, a seven-foot statue of him was recently unveiled. Magawa died in 2022, but his legacy lives on.

Massive Louisiana LNG project could pollute more than all existing and proposed terminals - Verite News New Orleans Woodside’s $18 billion liquefied natural gas facility is expected to generate more greenhouse gases than any LNG terminal in the U.S.

LNG is touted as a climate-friendly fuel, but a new LNG terminal under construction in Louisiana is expected to emit more than 9.5 million tons of greenhouse gases annually.

That's more than every existing and proposed LNG project in the US and more than any oil refinery in Louisiana.

Today, April 7, is Kwibuka32, the commemoration of the 32d anniversary of the first full day of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsis in Rwanda.
Past US presidents marked the date with stock statements of “never again.” Today the president instead echoed the language & threats of the perpetrators.

Big co's often sell low-profit wells to smaller co's that squeeze what oil they can but don't don't have $$ for the inevitable cleanup

For those unaware, Space has already shifted focus to building a self-growing city on the Moon, as we can potentially achieve that in less than 10 years, whereas Mars would take 20+ years.
The mission of SpaceX remains the same: extend consciousness and life as we know it to the stars.
It is only possible to travel to Mars when the planets align every 26 months (six month trip time), whereas we can launch to the Moon every 10 days (2 day trip time). This means we can iterate much faster to complete a Moon city than a Mars city.
That said, SpaceX will also strive to build a Mars city and begin doing so in about 5 to 7 years, but the overriding priority is securing the future of civilization and the Moon is faster.”
