Many of the guidelines also fit into the @jameslindalliance.bsky.social/SRF top 10 research priorities and we continue to call for research funders to look to fund studies that address these priorities to enable better evidence-based guidelines in the future.
Worth noting, however, that many of the recommendations are based on low or very low certainty of evidence, indicating an urgent need for research to address those areas of practice.
Sepsis Research FEAT welcomes the updated Surviving Sepsis international guidelines, which are in line with current UK sepsis guidelines. The charity supports continuous infusions of specific antibiotics (endorsed by @ics-updates.bsky.social
the British Infection Association in 2025).
Our thanks to Jennifer for so kindly sharing her story to raise awareness of sepsis www.mirror.co.uk/news/health/...
Very pleased indeed to see this change: a good thing for UK health services research. A further opportunity to leverage the unique national nature of the NHS to improve health for UK citizens whilst contributing to global research efforts to improve health across all domains

"Priority 1 reflects a need for patients and clinicians, and today’s guidance takes a step toward addressing that gap. We will continue to support research that improves early diagnosis and saves lives.” – Andrew Conway Morris(
@andymoz78
), Medical Director, Sepsis Research FEAT
The updated guidance reflects one of the top priorities identified through the James Lind Alliance process that Sepsis Research FEAT funded. Research priority number 1 asks ‘how diagnosis can become faster, more accurate and reliable?’.
Sepsis Research FEAT welcomes the new NICE guidance on suspected sepsis in people aged 16 or over. The focus on quicker recognition, better assessment and early treatment supports the work the charity fund across the UK.
