On one hand, 20th century media was rife with "he's clearly the bad guy because he's an immigrant" - from Mortimer Mouse to the code-switching middle eastern characters in the TV series 24, and that needed correcting. However, identifying positively with Joker and Walter White and Thanos seems bad.

When my wife is browsing titles on whatever streaming service is up on the TV, I find myself thinking about the glorification and humanization of villains in early 21st century entertainment.
