Caucus leaders Sandy Nurse, Tiffany Cabán, Alexa Avilés, and Kayla Santosuosso issue the following statement:

“Upon hearing word of our colleague Chi Ossé’s wrongful, violent arrest for standing up for Brooklyn resident Carmella Charrington whose home is being stolen through deed theft, many of our members have arrived on scene at the 79th precinct in Brooklyn. We demand Council Member Ossé and everyone else arrested’s immediate release and that charges be dropped. We also urge the Governor to enact an immediate eviction moratorium on homes suspected of deed theft.”

A huge problem in Bed-Stuy, where I live, is deed theft. A very organized and courageous group is bringing attention to this, but the battle is hard.

Last week, they arrested a victim of this, district leader candidate Carmella Charrington. This morning, they arrested our CITY COUNCIL MEMBER.

JeanCarlos has called the United States home since he was 6 years old.

His sister speaks for their whole family: "My brother has left a very painful void in our lives, especially for his young children, who suffer greatly without their father”

His story must be told.

Some of the rabbis who are wary of Mr. Mamdani were critical of his appearance at the progressive Seder event.

“The mayor needs to determine at some point that if he wants a relationship with the Jewish community, he needs to have a relationship with the majority of New York Jews,” said Rabbi Ammiel Hirsch, senior rabbi of Stephen Wise Free Synagogue. “This organization is legitimate and relevant, but it doesn’t represent the majority of American Jews and New York Jews.”

Federal Judge Approves Trump Effort to Extract List of Jews From Penn

There’s good historical reason to worry that an authoritarian government leader collecting a registry of Jews, under the pretext of protecting Jews, while that leader has referred to Jews as “disloyal,” may not end up so well for The Jews. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/31/u...

Block Markwayne Mullin’s Confirmation as DHS Secretary | Indivisible Trump thinks swapping out ICE Barbie Kristi Noem with loyalist lapdog Markwayne Mullin will take the heat off our demands for accountability - tell your Senator they must oppose Mullin’s confirmation!

Markwayne Mullin’s confirmation hearing for DHS secretary is later this week. The Senate already knows what happens when a dangerous and cruel DHS secretary is confirmed. Tell your senators to vote NO on Mullin and doubling down on ICE’s lawless violence.
