Yes, the desperation can be very overwhelming. I remember saying to one very enthusiastic greeter within five minutes of getting to know somebody would be wanting them to sign up for committees: “ if you went on a first date and they were already talking about marriage, would you go on a second?”

Pope Francis 1936-2025
One year ago.
May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
Interesting. “Ministry of reconciliation” is definitely not what I associate with the word “evangelical”
Evangelical in what sense?
Photo of Prince Albert and his wife Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the Duke and Duchess of York (afterward King George VI and Queen Elizabeth) holding their month old daughter on her christening day, May 29, 1926.

April 21, 1926. The Duchess of York, wife to 2nd son of King George V & Queen Mary, gives birth to a daughter - Elizabeth Alexandra Mary (named for her mother, great grandmother and grandmother.)
In 1952 she became Queen Elizabeth II and reigned for 70 years.
First and last photos of her:
I love this so much.
Niche. But hilarious.
😂😂😂 👏👏👏👏
In those cases I am perplexed that they believe “it’s the bishop who is closing the church”.
Yes that I understand. But having been to a few myself (as clergy showing support) I do often see and hear quite a number of members who are in tears that “their beloved church” is “being closed by the bishop” but then in conversation you find out they really haven’t been in years
One thing that saddens me are photos and videos of “final services” when a church is closing because of dwindling numbers.
These services are always packed with people and I often think the clergy and bishop (usually in attendance) must be thinking “So where have you all been the last 20 years?”
So apparently the reason the one door is propped open is because my admin was there holding it open as the delivery guy took the photo. So safely delivered and now on my desk apparently.
Effective 2025 federal tax rates paid by these corporations:
Alphabet: 8.01%
AT&T: 4.6%
Meta: 3.57%
General Motors: 3.09%
Amazon: 1.37%
Exxon Mobil: 1.31%
Disney: -1.57%
CVS Health: -3.88%
Income tax rate paid by the typical American: 14.5%
This is what a rigged system looks like.
I will alert our Admin to its presence.
pic of a magnetic board set on a table, with coloured letters spelling out "Bible study cancelled." just above the board is an adorable black cat (Stormy) who is cautiously picking up the letter "e" from "bible." in the top left is a corner of a laptop screen showing the church website.
Unfortunately we have to cancel bible study tomorrow (April 21) due to some unexpected dental surgery. We will resume with Chapter 14 of Revelation next Tuesday, April 28.
I thought it always was.
I will say that it’s very telling I’ve heard almost no pushback about this from MAGA Christians.
Can you imagine if it had been a Muslim solider who has done it????
And saving up for it.
Good Lord the cost!!!
Because of course it’s considered “cosmetic” so insurance doesn’t cover any of it.
Changing bloody gauze every half hour is the worst.
Yeah. I absolutely could not be in the medical profession.
Lying in bed. Sheepadoodle hovering over me, clearly concerned.
Spooning with my sheepadoodle. His paw, still dirty from his morning walk, is curled over my hand.
Impacted tooth removal.
Freezing beginning to wear off.
Can’t take most of the usually prescribed pain meds.
Such fun.
At least Nurse Chester is on duty. Muddy paws, and all.
Because other human beings - esp if they’re of a different culture, religion, skin-colour, or nation - don’t impact them. But symbols and flags representing THEIR identity does.
two hosts talking with each other, standing on a stage in front of a white background. they are slightly out of focus, and our attention is on the text which reads: "The Service Practice / Session 01: Love / Session 02: Hiddenness / Session 03: Availability / Session 04: Kinship." text at bottom of screen reads: "Practicing the Way"
Following the success of earlier series from Practicing the Way, Fr. Daniel is offering a follow-up program on Service.
This four-week study will be held on Thursdays from 7:00pm to 8:30pm beginning next week, April 23.

As a Christian, I will say that the mass slaughter of living Palestinians is far more upsetting to me and deserving of the church’s outrage than the deliberately provocative damage done to a statue.
Funny how it’s always men who think the gender war is “bollocks”.
Gender war IS class war.
It makes women into a secondary and inferior class
Gender war bs?
I don’t think the patriarchy’s war on women is “bs”
Liberals reject banning surveillance pricing. This doesn’t necessarily mean that further debate can’t happen. What they’re rejecting is a fast tracked NDP motion - but this is still disappointing.
In real life people have to face you, and not hide behind fake photos and account names.
Photo of Fox News anchor Sean Hannity with text: Sean Hannity has left the Catholic Church. His red line wasn’t the churches coverup of pedophilia. No. It was the calls for peace.
What’s your line in the sand?
Cruelty to your neighbour?
Lying to your neighbour?
Exploiting your neighbour?
Dehumanizing your neighbour?
Destroying your neighbour?
“Loving your neighbour as yourself” seems an odd line for a Christian to have.
Yep.
Or “Jesus is Lord”.
Or a Bible citation.
Or “patriot”.
Yes mine aren’t there so much because I worry what people will use for me - inevitably they do use “he/his” but their presence tells others they can expect their own preferred pronouns to be used. It’s such a little thing to me - but means a great deal to others. Why wouldn’t you?
