Saw a couple of those whinings and found them absurd. It’s still art, it’s still skill, let it be valued suitably for the photographer (and the photographer doesn’t appear to be having any problems with demand, so)

If anything I think that fandom photographers undervalue their own services.

A fursuit photoshoot can take me HOURS to just edit and pick the photos to give you at the end.

Pay your damn photographers.

People complain about prices from well-known photographers but nobody bites if you advertise PWYW or free

Photographers absolutely should be able to set their prices too. Most probably also don't consider the post editing either that goes into it.

And yep, just like artist there are different rates for different levels. I'm still working on tip amounts myself.

But don't you dare let me catching you sandbag a person for having the confidence to have a rate for their time.

Seriously, why are photographers not allowed to value themselves?

Artists are allowed to set their prices.

Photographers should be allowed to also.

And if you can't afford it, find someone who you CAN afford. There's PLENTY of great ones!

You know, hearing that there's people complaining about the prices of a fandom photographer annoys me because that kind of talk would be unacceptable if it were a different job.

Photography is more than just pointing a camera. Time and effort goes there too.
