Oh my god, of course! And Debbie Reynolds

I completely agree, same for George Michael. All three of them iconic in ways that’s unlikely to be replicated
I know the 2016 trend is because 1) nostalgia, 2) the people who yearn for it were children at the time, but 2016 was just a warm-up for the horrors of 2020-onwards
incomplete list of things that happened in 2016:
- Victoria wood died
- Prince died
- Bowie died
- George Michael died
- I had to live with a pick up artist who was also my boss
- stayed in a hostel that had bedbugs
- Trump elected
- long recovery from viral meningitis
- Brexit
Hey man, we cool? I just noticed that when I look at you the reticle turns red.
dear mr rihanna,
on "Helicopter", A$AP Rocky states that people will "do anything for a blue check", forgetting that anyone on Twitter can buy one if they have cash to spare, which makes the clout-chasing aspect of the bar less impactful. I hope someone has made him aware of this and proposes edits.
bonus points if they make it seem like watching a cartoon or slightly embarrassing internet personality made them lose their minds
every YouTube video is now called “the rise and fall of bluppy mcfart” and it’s 2 hours of someone summarising a tv show you’ve never seen

and the market is *so* crowded that every needs their own shtick to try and stand out. You've got, what, half a second to grab someone's attention as they scroll? How are you supposed to establish rapport and get something worthwhile when you have neither the space, time, nor budget?
people are discouraged from engaging with things critically, opportunities for people to develop within traditional media outlets have vanished, and everything is advertising. Why bother with the pretense of a critical voice or interesting question when everyone's there to sell?
@manilazic.bsky.social wrote this 3 years ago about influencers taking over the critic space, and the same thing has happened with interviews www.theguardian.com/film/2023/au...
have you considered that, instead of wasting your time with “nature” or “friends”, you could be increasing shareholder value?
pretty much all technology that has increased productivity and connectivity has been used to make people work more, not less. The idea that businesses will suddenly find sufficient goodness in their heart to allow for more leisure time is nonsense
Some bedtime reading for you: Someone has to be happy. It should be pretty much anyone but Lauren Sánchez Bezos

global leaders are underestimating the power a new Solange album could have to help heal the world. getting her back in the studio is an imperative.

my episode of Hypothesis is out! I had a great time talking about my research with Ira 🙂↕️ available now wherever podcasts are
when I try to remember the name of the podcast with guy who slept in people’s homes and grace campbell’s dad:
broadly, cooking is advertising and gender. gooseberry crumble specifically, however, is mostly advertising with some gambling sprinkled in
name anything and I will tell you which category it fits into
my current theory is that everything is advertising, gambling, gender, or some combination of the three.
