erratic flashing/blinking, it's very strange
dude i love how shitty computers have gotten. i love to put my laptop to sleep, a concept invented decades ago, and have it just sit there flashing the keyboard backlight at me and barfing hot air out the back. it rules
probably, but at this point it would make more sense to just get a GDEMU and an SD card and have a fully solid-state console
my PS2 has always had weird issues with CDs specifically, and apparently that's just how some models are???
yeahhhh, i just don't have a hundred spare bucks to buy one...
i gently cleaned the lens and it didn't do anything. like it's not even making the usual seek noises. if i move it manually, it returns to the home position, and then just sits there
like it just got to the end of the music track and stopped. it doesn't even try to read discs anymore. i guess there are worse ways to go...
my Dreamcast laser just up and died without warning while running through Speed Highway. rest in peace, old friend ;_;
me: stop fucking vibe-coding
bluesky: why?
me: yes
it's all built on the same rotten foundation
Whether or not a production issue is specifically caused by LLM-generated code, vibe-coding is going to be the casual synecdoche for the end-stage result of the "move fast and break things" philosophy that has eroded technology for the past decade.
updating my statement to "all vibe coders"
happy birthday!!
i think the bluesky devs should get new jobs that don't involve touching computers
friendly reminder! i'll be doing the remaining OSH donor requests in about an hour. they may not all be gems, but they are video games, and play them i must...
ironically enough, the automation is what's given me the most grief, because streaming hardware and software is held together with hopes and dreams at best
the more i think about it, the more i am convinced i'm experiencing the warning signs of burnout. which maybe sounds kinda silly, considering i only stream twice a week as is, but hear me out. generally speaking, i enjoy streaming. i love playing weird and wonderful games and chatting with folks. i want to do it more often, even! but as i have frequently either alluded to, or directly talked about, setting up for a stream is hard. there are so many programs to open, windows to carefully position, buttons to push, things to plug in, checklists to follow, announcements to be made, and the looming threat of eldritch bugs in my hardware and software either causing things to fail or, at worst, bring down my entire system (it's happened several times!)... despite all the ways in which my setup has become fully automated, getting it to that point every stream day has become a real hassle. there's still a whole backlog of features to implement and issues to squash, and the more i think about it, the more i don't want to touch it. if you followed me on cohost, you might have seen the "KumquatOS" setup i was working on, which was an attempt to greatly simplify things and get a fresh start, with much fewer bells and whistles. i think i need to return to that idea, but go even simpler this time, maybe forgoing the complex pngtuber setup entirely. i don't plan to get rid of my current setup! i still like a lot of things about it, and i know y'all do too. what i think i'm gonna do is keep the current setup around for Sundays and special events (e.g. OSH), and use something much more bare-bones for weekday and random unscheduled streams. i just need something where i can Do Whatever and embrace the scuff without having to worry about bringing down an entire house of cards, and more importantly, not have to worry about doing much beyond opening OBS and hitting the "start streaming" button. (final "thank you" truncated due to lack of alt text space)
apologies for the Discord screenshot, but i ain't splitting this up into God knows how many posts. the tl;dr is: i'm burning out, and i need to scale things back a bit.
g-pool...... thank you........ ๐ฅบ
i am very much a "crawl out of bed and throw on whatever's clean" kind of person irl so i find myself increasingly attracted to this aesthetic

been getting a little bored of Rachel's usual t-shirts and skirts and decided to doodle something a bit different
