Just finished restoring this Genesis Model 1 using @zaxour.bsky.social 3BP+ and flex cables, and it’s a game changer!

The flex makes the install clean with only a few wires needed, and the 3BP+ makes the video and audio look phenomenal! I recommend this combo to get the best from your Genesis!

Another (mostly) new SNES built using @starlightk7.bsky.social OpenSFC project! The purple PCB is probably my favorite color, and translucent shell is a great way to display this project

Nothing that fancy. Someone told me that they terminated Pb/Pr with lower impedance and were able to get pretty close, so I played around with it digitally on the RT5X. Then I just built an analog circuit to lower Pb/Pr amplitude and convert back to RGB. Maybe not the most elegant solution 😬

In a way, yes. All analog, so I’m not doing any fancy lookup tables, but if I’m successful, it should be pretty close

For the FRAM, since the Saturn flex hard ties P22 (/OE) to ground, I had to lift that pin on the FRAM and jump it to the SRAM's /OE pin. Other than that, no other modification necessary!

Somebody else recapped this rare RG-M1, but rendered it inoperable. I found a solder bridge across this ceramic cap, which brought it roaring back! Also put on an FRAM - used my Saturn flex since JVC skeeted epoxy all over

I finally finished up a circuit to better approximate the composite palette! Output from the bonanza goes in, then modified RGB goes out. Not necessary if you have an RT5X/4K, but would be useful for CRT's/other scalers.

Accompanying yesterday's Genesis is this 32X - recapped and outfitted with a Buzzkill to ensure no inductor noise!

Ugly duckling Model 1 VA7 Genesis glow up with a 4BP and TS924 headphone amp! No more horribly balanced audio, with cleaned-up RGB and S-Video capability to boot! I opted for a bottom side install this time...wish I had a flex for everything 🫠

ehhh......the R-Y and B-Y signals are pre-modulated with the subcarrier, so you can't just slap an amplifier on and use it as a component video signal, sadly! Like I said, because it encodes RGB, it's going to look like a composite version of any RGB modded PCE

The composite is created by the combination of the color burst, luma, R-Y and B-Y signals directly from the HUC6260, which is what NEC intended with the design. That signal is then modulated to RF. The Euro TG16 will have the incorrect palette, as it is just encoding RGB to get composite out.
