Said friend tried to sign up for stoat but never got the verification e-mail and I can only assume is is because of just how hard Discord is rocking the boat causing everyone to start looking for a backup.

I've seen stoat(dot)chat talked about some as a possible alternative. A friend of mine also showed me something called rootapp that could have potential. I don't WANT to ditchcord, but at this point I am making sure I know where some exits are.

I can't cancel a sub I never had, so I'm good on that front. It still sucks having to scramble for an alternative chat service altogether though. Plus urging friends to pick up someplace new if Discord doesn't back away from the cliff they've already got one food dangling off of.
