It was such a privilege to help edit this book- I learnt something from each chapter about what it means to teach history and do it well.

It will be really good. @catherinepriggs.bsky.social and @egcarr.bsky.social are brilliant at explaining how to integrate rich extended story with critical disciplinary thinking. They explain the #ChangingHistoriesKS3 series really well, giving great practical tips.

And let me know when you can come to the Lake! My son passed his swim test this year, so I’ll be there most ☀️ days! Xx

Oh and for something less ultra-processed, The Island of Missing Trees by Shafak is wonderful.

The school librarians have given me the Agency for Scandal trilogy for the summer and it’s Bridgerton meets Enola Holmes. It is not meticulously researched or high brow in the slightest and thus is perfect. I love it already.

Congratulations Cat! I wish I had been there to see you achieve the award in person. So many years of service to the history education community. Bravo!

The use of a puzzling, intriguing, scholarship-driven enquiry question is so central to my teaching. This masterclass will be brilliant!

How does an enquiry question sustain interest, build momentum and give all pupils access to disciplinary thinking across a lesson sequence? How does the EQ help you to integrate compelling stories and rich, extended text?

Space and size: students as relational cartographers in my new frontier of history teaching I’ve been thinking a lot about space. Not in a Star Wars way (although I do know my Aldhani from my Alderaan). I’ve been thinking about space and distance. Inspired by Mike Hill’s seminal article o…

I have a new blog, building on the work of @michaeldoron.bsky.social . If you love Star Wars, Andor, Grogu and the Mandalorian, then don't read it. The blog is not about any of that: lobworth.com/2025/06/27/s...

That’s right. And I have just been telling stories! Pausing in the right places, slowing down to build up cliffhangers, whispering the darker and more dangerous scenes like I’m telling a secret. The book is a goldmine for engaging children.

Bravo @willgoodfellow82.bsky.social and @counsellc.bsky.social and thank you to the late and great Nicolas Kinloch, who had a profound impact on my thinking

And here it is. Finally. Surrounded by some of the scholarship that shaped it. It’s beautiful and such fun to teach - it has given my Year 8 class stories to live inside. A parent messaged me to say history has ‘never been so fun!’ - all I did was tell the class stories from this book.

So happy that the scholarship of Ruby Lal, Emma Griffin, James Boyce, Vincent Brown and others will shine in this textbook - it was such a pleasure and privilege to work with historians, & the integration of images and text is spellbinding.
