A book that really gives kids a range of moral philosophies to grapple with and understand. One of the best children's books of all time
And frankly if Driscoll was one of the candidates in my own ward I'd not be using all votes. I have never in my time in politics met or dealt with anyone I found more self serving or less trustworthy, in my opinion.
As I say I will vote for @nickhartleygreen.bsky.social because he's a decent ward cllr. And I feel forced to vote for his colleagues because there is simply no other party that will come above third other than Reform, who I wish to defeat. But Driscoll will be a long-term liability for them
My issue as a voter is not wanting to give Jamie Driscoll a larger caucus in the council if he is also elected in his ward, and I know the Greens will say they have no whip but I know that he absolutely will turn the Green caucus in council into his own personal vehicle.
Because they're not used to this kind of shit in the way that Labour's decades-old internal paranoia had built up bulwarks against
I'm quite willing to vote for my existing Green cllr, and will be forced to use my other two votes for them too, because of the fash, but I worry they'll not understand how much the likes of Jamie Driscoll will just hollow out their local party and turn it into their own vehicles
These cranks like Driscoll etc are now going into the Newcastle Greens who are like those birds that lived on islands where they had no natural predators for thousands of years and then suddenly rats and cats turned up and they just got eaten within a generation
This is the thing I keep thinking about them locally (they're doing well here). The Newcastle Greens are letting in people who are extremely battle-hardened on how to do entryism, because they spent *years* doing it in Labour, and they kept losing cos Labour itself is so battle-hardened on this
When they let Jamie Driscoll in you knew then that they'd let anyone in
As an angry ex-Labour activist who lives in a ward that will categorically be a straight fight between Greens and Reform, I know what I have to do on May 7th. But that doesn't mean I have to like it at all
Like it's shit but there's a fun rustic novelty to it now, when before the new Metros were here the old ones just felt like a visible reminder of the breakdown of the social fabric. Now they have a rough and ready authenticity to them in comparison to the new ones
While I still love the new Metros, as they become more common I've come to appreciate the old Metros more. Feels like going for a ride in a pickup truck

My book is out now!!
Jacob’s Transition Goals is a positive, hopeful story about an 8 year old transgender boy who loves football. In today’s political climate, trans joy is so needed - you should grab a copy!
You can buy Jacob’s Transition Goals in LGBTQ+ bookshops and online all over the world
Being at a Matt Forde show is damning enough in itself
Martian leader shortly before the events of War Of The Worlds:
Yeah I'm not saying that Health Secretary is double scandal of affair with staff member + social distancing hypocrisy isn't a story, I just find it weird that the other story there feels deliberately untouched
Doesn't explain that he very clearly didn't know it was there, and Alistair Campbell and Rory Stewart both said that they were surprised to hear there were cameras in the office. Do we know if it's currently the standard to have cameras in Secretaries of State's offices? Or was his a one off?
So apparently the Times had said it was hidden inside a smoke detector, but then decided not to make that the main story
and he just said he wasn't willing to discuss it, and they left it at that
The one I find really strange is the exposing of Matt Hancock's affair. The media coverage was weirdly incurious about why there was a secret hidden camera in the office of a Secretary of State, and who put it there. The one time I'm aware of it being asked was in his interview with the News Agents
It seems bad that this would have gotten a push alert from the BBC if this had been the other way round when as is this is the only coverage I’ve seen & it’s hidden away in the subheadings?

their good friend, the Prince of Darkness
Did he die in April? I remember well that it was 2016, but for some reason I've remembered it being at the end of the year, like him and Bowie bookending it in January and December respectively
Government playing 1D chess again. Somehow several moves behind itself.
Every one who's ever leafleted for a party has done this at some point
One that I did already know was that Verka Seduchka did announce a political party (called "For Ours") to run for parliament but then never did anything after the announcement to make it actually happen
I feel like I need to do a deep dive on post-eurovision political careers
Wow also just found out that Linda Martin was also approached by a political party about running in the 2025 presidential election. Wondering now if Eimear Quinn has ever run for the council
Aye that's the thing, his politics are awful and it matters more than most artists with awful politics cos he is also an actual sitting politician
