‘Moms’ and ‘Pops’ of The Family Skeptical Podcast invited me back on for a wide ranging discussion about humanist parenting, Lego and discussing politics/justice with kids.

Disgusting reporting by BBC using a tiny number of cases to suggest widespread abuse of a system which routinely denies LGBTQIA+ individuals asylum and forces them back into environments of persecution. This article massively distorts the reality of the situation. 1/

In 2018, Orbán's Fidesz won 49% of the popular vote and 67% legislative seats.
In 2014, Fidesz won less than 45% of the popular vote and two-thirds of the seats.
Although the tides have now turned, Orbán's 16 years of unchecked power are a reminder: FPTP is an autocrat's best friend.
There's just 3 weeks to go till Camp Quest UK 2026! Lots preparation still to go. If you're interested, check me out on the Humanism Now podcast, where we discuss our approach to encouraging critical thinking through fun, friendship and freethought.
Always watch Geoff Marshall videos with my son when he's unwell. Now I'm sick we're cuddling and watching the rest of this great video. I need to close my eyes, clutch my tummy & pray during the shakey cam. Always found just the idea of buses running & places being open 24hrs strangely comforting.
New VIDEO!
And it's a good one - proper Documentary stuff as I go and ride all 64 'N' Bus Routes in London !!

Z is for Zen. My final post in the A-Z of humanist parenting, explored how cultivating mindfulness can help you appreciate the chaos of parenting and reconnect with your values. Humanist parenting philosophies ground these values in our connection to and experience of naturalism.
I realized two things yesterday.
1. For years, I didn't care at all about anything associated with rockets and going to space.
2. That's not right. I had just gotten sick to death of shitty billionaires and their performative expressions of wealth.
I never stopped loving NASA and its mission.
Nuclear annihilation really is a small price to pay if the alternative is acknowledging the humanity in people who don't look, sound, and think the same way I do.
"I grew up across the street from a public library, and it was the only place my mom would let me go on my own. It was my second home, and I read everything that I could get."

Whether it's Trump threatening a nuclear war on Truth Social or Hillary Clinton sharing risotto recipes by email, both leaders made controversial use of digital communication.
The FA Cup semi-finals are SET! ⚔️🏆
Chelsea vs. Manchester City
Liverpool vs. Brighton
Our community group heard from a local celebrant about the joy and diversity of humanist weddings and the campaign for their legal recognition. We discussed humanist perspectives on relationships and connections to the wider history of marriage reform.
What a performance by Brighton as they knock out Arsenal from the Women’s FA Cup!
Madison Haley and Caitlin Hayes scored their goals, and also praise for Fran Kirby’s performance after two assists by her.
Arsenal are out in the quarter-finals for the second year in a row!

The rules governing space remain dangerously on the fringes of public debate, left to the competing interests of global superpowers, vast industries – and a small clique of centibillionaires.
It's been a few months since our local group's event on "Asylum and immigration: a compassionate, informed humanist approach". I've been reflecting on the incorporating these lessons in my humanist activism, and sharing advice for groups considering similar events.

The moral and political case for boycotting the 2026 Fifa Men’s World Cup is getting stronger. It would be great to see major sporting figures join the call. I wouldn’t watch Mussolini’s 1934 World Cup so can’t watch Trump’s in the USA and its unconscionable sportswashing.

In the penultimate entry in my A-Z of humanist parenting (Y is for Yes) I talked about how teaching consent, dissent, and critical thinking gives kids necessary tools to say “No”. But we must also create conditions where they can say Yes to new ideas, experiences and activities.
A World Humanist Day display or reading in your local library – as with other solidarity and awareness events – can be a great way to improve community representation and understanding. Check out my guide on how you or your humanist community group can approach your local libraries.

From Affirmation to Zen: community, intentionality and kindness have come up time and again, as I sought to define 26 key ideas that put the humanism in my humanist parenting. Check out my retrospective on (and links to all the articles in) 'The A-Z of Humanist Parenting' series.
Notes from my workshop. Good understanding of neurodiversity/neurodivergent & neurotypical/neuronormativity, and their relevance to humanist communities - albeit some conflation of terms. The group with 'neuroqeerness' term didn't have any idea what it meant, but the wider discussion really got it.
Getting ready for my workshop on neurodiversity inclusion for humanist communities. The t-shirt is part of it. We'll be discussing key terms, why neurodivergent inclusion is particularly important for humanist groups, and ways that local/special interest humanist communities can be more inclusive.
Spent a misty morning exploring Worcester's riverside walk. Looking forward to an inspiring day, discussing local and special interest humanist communities - what we can learn from each other, and where we can improve.
Fathers, please hug your sons and tell them you love them, so that they don't end up being interviewed by Louis Theroux about the #manosphere. I don't think I've ever seen a case for the value of therapy in society more than this @netflix series. Damn.
