My fellow MU alum over at @knowledgefight.bsky.social had better be 2-AM-at-Eastside-Tavern level drunk celebrating the news today.

Official statement re: Dan Bongino
Curious what archaeology looks like in the Sahara Desert?
Here's a 2001 video from the Combined Prehistoric Expedition showing the first season digging at Gebel Ramlah, a Neolithic cemetery.
NOTE: Video contains human remains.

So....Twitter is basically a hellscape of misinformation, name-calling, bullshit, and advertisements now?
A drawing labeled a quick guide to non human ape sexy times. There are four boxes. Box 1: orangutan with two circles connected by a single straight line labeled antisocial monogamy. Box 2 is labeled gorilla and has a row of three dots each with its own line connecting to a single dot labeled polygamy. Box 3 is chimpanzees. Three dots on each side. Dots adjacent to each other are not connected, but they are connected to all of the dots on the opposite side, labeled competitive promiscuity. And box 4 is bonobos (so you know this will be fun). Every dot is connected to every other dot for a big ol dot orgy and is labeled nonstop orgy.
I just found the script for next season's Bridgerton. The intrigue. The prestige. The sex. The bonobos.

Q: "So you're saying that these visitors walked all over the Earth, altered the course of human history and departed without leaving a trace?"
A: "This is more complicated than you think...it may still be hidden somewhere. But it would be hidden very well."

Q: "A psychiatrist might say that your theories, with all this talk about mankind as children of superior beings, were generated by your unhappiness as a child who didn't get along with his father."
A: "Well, yes and no..."

Seems as good a time as any to share the 1974 interview of him by Timothy Ferris. Always amazed at the dodging, deflecting, and backpedaling he tried when confronted by someone who actually knew what they were talking about (1/8)

It's easy to use social media to spout off about archaeology.
It's harder to spend 12 mos. digging in archives to find documentary films made about actual archaeology, get them digitized, cut together, and shared on the Internet to show folks what real archaeology looks like
Whelp, someone just earned himself a cameo in my class this semester.
I dont know who needs to hear this, but the Smithsonian is NOT hiding the remains of giants in the basement… 🤦♂️
