Back in the day when we had to change numbers if we changed services… I couldn’t remember my own number, let alone anyone else’s!

Also good reminder that kids need to know their parent’s phone number for this exact situation. The kid from today was stress crying and thankfully still remembered mom’s number but i cant imagine his panic if he only had it programed on the phone he forgot at home.

We need to bring back Payphones/free public phones. This is the third time a kid has come up to me asking to use my phone to call their parents bc they dont have their phone for whatever reason and their parent forgot about early dismissal.

The answer for everyone that isn’t indigenous to Australia is along the lines of “no, for as long as you or I are standing here, there’ll be one migrant or descendant of migrant left!”

Nooooo insight.

Hoo boy, that was a tough listen. Two women in a department store, browsing racks right next to me, discussing 'immigrants'. I had to walk away when one said '...and you know what? We'll never get them all out of here either'.

There's just no helping some people. 🙄 #Its2026

Irradiation: Expanding seafood’s safety arsenal - Responsible Seafood Advocate Irradiation is exposing food to controlled levels of ionizing radiation, killing microorganisms without changing texture, flavor or nutritional value.

This one is being loaded with forklift trucks… which is more than I can handle in one lunch break. 🤣

We had one on almost every street when I was little.

2-10kGy apparently. For cold sterilisation of seafood, closer to 10kGy… which is an awful lot more than what’s available in my plates. 🤣

Good point. I have noticed this in Aus too.

One problem is that many articulate, confident people are forbidden by the terms of their employment to speak out. To acquiesce in the power that threatens everything is acceptable and uncontroversial. To contest it brings your employer "into disrepute" and could have you sacked.

This is true. No one wants to admit COVID still exists or ever existed. Quite incredible. Where are the huge conferences dedicated to COVID, like there still is for HIV?

UVC can only clean air and a very thin layer of surface. For food you want something that penetrates. Otherwise you’d have to treat each component separately… and that would make a real mess of sushi!

Coronaviruses can survive stomach acid… but I’m not just thinking corona… good sushi is not easy to find.

Oh it’s not just C19… raw fish and meat is a great medium to grow an awful lot of things. Cold chain, hand hygiene and resp hygiene are essential… as well as fresh food not grown in petri farms.

Sushi. Not a gamma irradiation machine. 🤣

Maybe… I should make my own…

Anyway. If anyone knows a place in NSW, let me know… cos I don’t think I’ve got space for an industrial irradiation set up in my garage. /s

Waiting for something to upload… so decided to go for lunch.

I think I need a gamma irradiation box… cos I really miss sushi, but I can’t find any places where they wear masks to prepare the food.

Which is super strange right? Because if teachers pick up anything else wrong with a child’s health, for example hearing loss, vision problems, impetigo etc. you can and must tell the parents to seek medical advice.

Just. Not. COVID.

And they are pretending that the aim is to get back to normal.

I have a student I believe has long covid and I am not allowed to say anything to parents 🤬
