Konami Python arcade machine all bundled up and ready to play 2003 era soccer
Python 2 all opened up showing the PS2 and a bit of the IO board inside
Caution text on the top of the machine humorously saying you need to be a qualified engineer to open this box or else you'll die of electricity
Big 🧵time!
Lets talk about my new friend, the Konami Python.
It's kinda the odd duck of the family. The middle child between the Konami Viper and the Konami Python 2. The system was a short lived platform.

For absolutely no real reason whatsoever, I spent the weekend creating a patch for Bug! and Bug Too! to run on modern Windows
Bug!er Up fixes Windows 11 compatibility; adds support for XInput controllers, removes the CD-ROM requirement and allows custom soundtracks.

I believe they shipped with configuration discs but I’ve not been able to confirm if they are required or not.
I got the software from olympus support but they quit replying to my requests after awhile which is understandable as this microscope is no longer supported.

Does anyone happen to have access to or know someone who has access to an Olympus Lext OLS3000 or OLS3100? Been unable to get mine to work and I don’t think its hardware failure but I have very little information as to how things should work.

Herman Miller Sayl chair disassembled and seat placed next to it with fabric removed and new foam being cut to shape
Photo of same chair after foam installation showing a very comfortable and plump seat rest
Old cushion placed on top of the new finished chair to show difference in support. Old cushion only slightly softer than a sheet of cardboard
Herman miller wanted $700 CAD to replace my 10 year old seat cushion.
Time to add amateur reupholstery to my skill set. My backbone will enjoy this greatly.
Old cushion for comparison.

I'm so concerned for the fate of the hobby electronics industry in the US.
I have friends who run small online shops selling modern hobby retro gear and it feels like, at least for now, it's going to end in short order.
No one can absorb these tariffs.

A die photo of the Intel 386 processor. It looks a bit like an aerial photo of a weirdly-zoned city, with rectangular blocks of various textures in a complicated arrangement. The functional units of the chip are labeled. In particular, the Prefetch Unit is near the upper left corner. A large red rectangle is labeled Prefetch Queue.
Anyone use Intel's 386 processor from 1985, the first 32-bit x86? To improve performance, it preloaded instructions into a 16-byte prefetch queue (highlighted in red). Why does such a small queue take up so much of the chip? Let's look under the microscope at its complicated circuitry... 1/N
