We Need to Prepare for the Mammoth Task of De-Trumpification The damage he and his cronies have wrought could take decades to repair, particularly when it comes to science and public health.

The task of de-Trumpification of science and public health will take a generation and a "Marshall Plan" to rebuild. Without a bold, expansive vision to guide us, there is no coming back. Small-bore, poll-tested versions of the future will not help us. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

Mamdani hasn't had time to really think about all that space he now has, because he spends most of his time at City Hall and around New York City. He tries to keep a semblance of his old life by getting around the city on foot, by bike or train.

"If you spend every single day driving around in a tinted window security detail, you will have a very specific view of the city," he said. "You actually meet other New Yorkers and you break out of the bubble that so many have come to expect of politics, where politicians only seem to be spending time with other politicians or the people who donated to make them politicians."

I'd say that this applies to anyone traveling in a car in any city. Being in a car versus walking, riding, or taking transit fundamentally changes how you view a place and your relationship to it. I wish more leaders set this kind of example.

Their involvement should haunt every moment the rest of their lives. They were careless people - they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.

Thank God I never went to Harvard which never had the intelligence to understand False Balance fallacy (Bothsidesism), no courage to resist the Trump administration, nor the ethics denounce the genocide in Palestine and allow for peaceful student and faculty protest.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette announces it has found a buyer to keep the newspaper open Owners of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said they have found a buyer who had agreed to keep the newspaper open, less than a month before it was due to shut down.

The nonprofit that runs the successful, Pulitzer-winning Baltimore Banner is going to take over the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Of all the possible outcomes here, this is likely the best we could have hoped for.

If you get 1 normal person out of 100 off the drip-feed of right wing noise and Sinclair-type local "news" you have done more to push the country in the right direction than all the bulk Facebook ad buys in human history combined.

Dear god. Very, very serious allegations of mass civil rights violations at the State of Florida's Everglades immigration detention center (officially known as "Alligator Alcatraz").

It looks really overpriced (as does almost everything in the area). Nobody remembers when Tokyo Sushi & Grill when they had a lunch set of California Roll, soup, salad, and dumplings for 7 USD. Or when a chai or latte cost 5 USD at Java Hutt. All of that in Birmingham.

Yes I am victim blaming, and no I don’t care: the entire industry has used fear as the cornerstone of its marketing for years; threatening people’s way of life in the abstract while damaging the economy, stealing peoples work etc. You don’t get to walk that back just because it became real for you.

People say we can't compare this to the Third Reich because of the atrocities but we only found out about the atrocities after the fact when it was all said and done and we're not done with this yet so I am sure the worst stomach churning shit has yet to be revealed.

Just because you know two white lesbian friends that like and condone dining at Chick Fil A doesn't mean it's okay to support a racist transphobic dry-rubbed overseasoned raw piece of chicken breast that salivates at the idea of inspecting children's genitals.
