An emerging asymmetry: when AI critics say things that are incorrect or out of pocket, those things get laser-targeted by "reasonable" people almost instantly; however, AI boosters say utter nonsense all the time but they're given the benefit of the doubt, because the reality of the tech is murky.

The First WORLD FENCING LEAGUE is happening April 25th!!! I'M GEEKING!!!
Japanese engineers developed this "Sword Tip Visualisation" tracking technology specifically for this event that will make it so much easier for the average person to see what's going on!
I MUST WATCH THIS ENTIRE TOURNAMENT
Bijan brand of garlic mayonnaise
Dropped by one of the many Iranian markets in our area and grabbed a couple things to try. This aioli is going to become a problem.
You can get started on the appetizer now by listening to last year's episode with @thismaybegraham.bsky.social discussing CBR+PNK (and much more).
Just sent the kid to play at the park by herself for the first time while I get dinner ready. Experienced a moment of bliss before remembering the roaming cannibals (Yellowjackets is filming in our neighborhood this week)
I work at Kotaku now! :)
You can go watch back today's KFGD to hear me talk about it a little if you want. You could also read my alma mater @gibiz.bsky.social to learn more! www.gamesindustry.biz/kotaku-hires...
Had several games lined up to discuss on the podcast this week and instead spent an hour talking about CBR+PNK

Started playing Opus: Prism Peak, and it’s very much my jam. Makoto Shinkai meets Life is Strange? Yes, please. Beautiful art direction, great voice acting, compelling opening.
However, Switch 2 performance is *rough*. Sub 30 FPS and serious input lag. Steam version on my M4 Mini is much better.
Was driving in Scotland last year, dropped by a random loch for a break and a fellow was just sitting there playing the bagpipes, pretty on the nose.
Realized my wife hadn't seen Goodfellas so made her watch it just so she'd get this joke (also because it rocks)
Tumblr post from hersatanicdragonmajesty: I'm tired of women's moral ambiguity being interpreted as evil and men's evil being interpreted as moral ambiguity.
A screenshot of a post from Facebook dated November 23, 2024. The post reads: Today's staff pick is a store favourite - here's what Denis has to say about Captain Sonar! Don't you hate when seven friends show up for game night and no one wants to split the party? Dive into the world of Captain Sonar, a 4v4 submarine combat game where you and three friends will try to sink the enemy sub, crewed by four other players across the table! Be the Captain, issuing directions and directives, the Radio Operator, focused on tracking down the enemy vessel, the First Mate, charging the subsystems or the Engineer, breaking stuff in a precise order that may or may not fix everything. Hunt and be hunted in this tense real-time light strategy game of chaos, confusion and catastrophic combat encounters!
I want to teach you Captain Sonar this Tuesday! How much do I want to teach you Captain Sonar? I LOGGED INTO FACEBOOK for the first time in over a year just so I could get a screenshot of the time I wrote about how much I love Captain Sonar for @raincity.games! www.raincity.games/captain-sona...
Coriolis the Great Dark starter box, Pokemon cards and stickers, Emberleaf expansion, the flight of dragons book, the silmarillion and some Japanese pastries.
Suffice to say a trip to my FLGS and indie book shop was also in the mix
A child reading a Supergirl comic
A plate with teriyaki hamburger steak, spaghetti, onigiri and salad
A beautiful day for a stroll on Burnaby Heights so finally dropped by Kanadell Cafe, full of some fantastic Japanese treats. Tazmanian Comics hooked my daughter up with her first superhero comic, which she's currently enraptured in while sharing a Hamburger platter
If you’re in Vancouver next month, come see my solo art show at Slide of Life Gallery on May 7th to 12th!! I’ll have all my art for sale as well as pet portraits on the weekend and merch of my zines and stickers :)
A great piece, not just on the joys of old tech but everything else we've lost in the relentless push for convenience. In accepting it in capitalisms terms we've not just atrophied our own curiosity and knowledge, but institutions, a sense of community and trained ourselves towards apathy.
I'm so proud of the vibrancy and diversity of Vancouver's board game design scene, in no small part due to having a strong community of playtesters.
Some games I saw and tried today. Peranakan: Tiles and Tactics. A bit like tic tac toe x tile laying. Collect kuih (traditional southeast asian sweet snacks) while you lay down traditional peranakan patterned tiles.
Upon further experimentation it CAN wake my computer from sleep. Latency and control fidelity aren't ideal but it's a great option for certain games.
Guess I'm a fan of Marsupilami now because it's the only cartoon on 🤷♂️
This is a great point in terms of making it a community effort to highlight artists and pool knowledge. We don't all have to scrutinize every piece of art alone. I've definitely been more reluctant to make accusations and will defer to professional consensus.
Ideally even if it's an artist/publisher without a reputation, the artist would still have a gallery of their work and the publisher would be proudly sharing it. It's tricky when there's multiple credited artists and little record of who they are. It's partly why I'm covering more old games.
Trying to expose her to new things because given her own choice she'd watch nothing but Pokemon. The streaming age means kids are rarely exposed to new things unless they're actively seeking it out or exposure from friends.
Wife is away for the night, and Speed Racer is finally streaming. Should I let the 6yo stay up late and watch it with me?
Order confirmation for Border riding and one breath left
Directions unclear, bought both 🫡
After a length of development that - if I truly, deeply thought about it, I would instantly go insane as if I'd opened some Lovecraftian skin-bound tome - our narrative city-builder Generation Exile has launched out of Early Access into full 1.0 today!
