It’s been 10 years since the day Prince died

*Nick Wilde singing Linkin Park voice* I’m mating the rabbit tonight
His PR crash outs since autographing that IDF bomb are extremely entertaining too when reading the replies
The Disturbed frontman makes a good case for separating the art from the artist, that way I can hate him twice

I have no idea how intentional the ring was
Thread on the South Korean president’s evolving stance on Israel, as he faces increasing economic pressure from the war in Iran:
The left column’s finalist should have been Illinois, to which I might give it the vote over OK Computer if I had to pick between either of them today, I certainly listen to it far more often these days
In fairness these are the 2 Radiohead albums I agree with their diehard fanzines the most on and consider their most accurately-rated but still: at least In Rainbows wasn’t also 3rd
The actual flaw of () is that Jònsi says “You sigh low” too many times
I have never encountered a social setting where I could imagine receiving backlash for liking them except for the ultra logged-on spaces where people debate whether () is “pretentious” for not having real titles or lyrics (it means whatever it means to you as sound!)
I own and love all their albums from 1999-2005 but you can hear their formula running thin on ideas by the end of the latter LP though I also own and like ‘13’s Kveikur that saw them work with heavier industrial sounds, ‘08 album only has first 4 tracks going for it
I like big romantic music, and SR are one of the few acts my boyfriend was already into when I started seriously listening to them. Ágætis Byrjun has soundtracked many bedtime snuggles in the time we’ve been together
Cocteau Twins and Sigur Rós are both more than okay to like in my book
One of the most important people in rap history, and also yeeeeeeesh
Real ones remember
“Another Brick in the Wall” is a good song that could’ve been better if David Gilmour played a solo that evoked the sinister feeling of the hook instead of neck pickup blues #485963
I think of Sonic Youth as the noise rock Beatles, straight down to Lee Randaldo getting the George Harrison quota of songs per album
I like both Spoon and The Knife and still yet to discover a great “fork” band to complete my cutlery set
The machine noise at work today is sounding unusually tuneful after blasting “Sister Ray” through my morning commute
Their albums from 1999-2005 are all amazing, and their 2013 one is pretty good and heavy too. By far my favourite post-rock band and one of the few with melodic chops to sustain interest in their soundscapes
A lot of music I hated as a teenager is so much easier to feel positively about, because I no longer feel perpetually at war with the music I don’t like the way I did back then
His red ones looked cool, but only those
*obsessed
It took until the 20th anniversary release of OOS when I realised I could enjoy a Muse album again and while their flaws and limitations are very obvious even on the good albums I can’t pretend their 01-06 output wasn’t without its merits, even Resistance has a solid title track
The strongest I’ve ever felt that way about a band is likely Muse, who I was ob with in my early teens bit once they felt like a caricature of bombastic rock at age 16 after 2nd Law it became nearly impossible to hear *any* of their songs without cringing
I too would block on sight before I read their inevitable “what’s genius about using SAMPLES and AUTO-TUNE” take and frown furiously at my phone screen
I do not support any War except for the 1983 U2 album
To me that often feels like people are feeling ashamed and/or embarrassed about the music they used to love and then overcorrect by doing a 180 and acting like it was never any good as a cope
