I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals

Let's be clear: The Trump Admin's vendetta against the SPLC is a sign of how impactful their work is.
The SPLC has been at the forefront of exposing some of America's most notorious hate groups, like the KKK. The fact that the Trump Admin feels threatened by that speaks volumes.
1. In a landmark ruling, the Montana Supreme Court has declared that the constitution, one of the most progressive in the nation, entirely protects transgender people.
The ruling is even insulated from SCOTUS decisions, due to how state constitutions work.

MSU Department of Anthropology < ANTHROPOLOGY • Follow 2h • 0 ... The Department of Anthropology is saddened to announce that former anthropology department chair Lynne Goldstein passed away yesterday. Goldstein (PhD Northwestern 1976) moved to MSU from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. She served as MSU department chair from fall 1996 through summer 2006 and retired in August 2018. Lynne was founding director of the Campus Archaeology Program (CAP), which was named one of the winners of the 2017 Governor's Awards for Historic Preservation in recognition of people and organizations who have preserved Michigan's vital historic and cultural resources. She served as the editor of American Antiquity, the journal published by the Society for American Archaeology, and received numerous awards from that organization, including the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. Lynne was also a 1992 recipient of a President's Award for Exceptional Service to the Profession by the American Anthropological Association. She is best known for her contributions to mortuary studies, as well as her work in Illinois, Wisconsin and in the Great Lakes region, particularly at the Aztalan site. The department sends its heartfelt condolences to Lynne's family and those who knew her best.

Oh man is this me
As a Catholic, this of course upsets me.
But far and away more upsetting is all the kids the IDF has killed.
1. Amazon has built powerful pricing algorithms that have learned how to steer prices upward — not just on Amazon, but across the web. I have a new piece on how these algorithms work, and how they help sustain Amazon’s monopoly.
VERY COOL PERSON: It's four-twenty, you know what that means?

Being anti-middle management is one of the dumbest positions that smart people take. I'm in an organisation that slashed middle managers and nothing gets done because execs are swamped with paperwork and there's no resilience when someone senior resigns
The Democrats sense that they're gonna cruise to midterm victory by doing nothing and offering nothing and are using it as a freebie to punch left to make sure the voters don't get any ideas.
When I was in my final months of the PhD a few of us used a website that measured 750 words a day. It gamified the writing and made me competitive, and I usually exceeded that goal. Don't know if that site still exists but I'm sure there's some kind of writing app to keep you invested.
how is this literally happening in real life
Someday, with luck and hard work, she will have a name too.
This is a genius bit of engineering and the sort of thing a country serious about assisting farmers and tackling energy shortages would be working to put over every canal
I’ve had the same editor since 1967. Many times he has said to me over the years or asked me, Why would you use a semicolon instead of a colon? And many times over the years I have said to him things like: I will never speak to you again. Forever. Goodbye. That is it. Thank you very much. And I leave. Then I read the piece and I think of his suggestions. I send him a telegram that says, OK, so you’re right. So what? Don’t ever mention this to me again. If you do, I will never speak to you again
