It's the perfect recipe for destroying a thriving fan community: limit fanworks to only the IP holder's vision, threaten anyone who doesn't comply with DMCA, and force everyone who does to run ads for you or hand over a chunk of your earnings, even when the fanwork fall under fair.

I'm surprised that people are not quite grasping what it's going on here.
It's essentially Ann Rice with a corporate twist, and kinda terrifying for artists who live off fan merch and fanart if it ends up being successful, though I highly doubt it.

It could be solved by something similar to what staff proposed, but without the absolutely stupid concept of op not receiving the notifications or seeing them in the original post.

I do think there is one item they could improve on, but it's likes more than reblogs.
The whole 'you can only like a chain once, and no one will be able to tell if you liked op's post or the answer debunking them' imho needs a better system.

Charlie's 10 years in the Dreamlands are constantly in the back of my mind.

I've been working on this piece on and off for almost a year and I'm pretty happy with the end result. I've definitely added a few more points to my tentacle and goop rendering stats xD

Yeap, where I work we had a couple with a 'run free' approach to handling their 2 1/2 y/o kid, and the result was the kid immediately attempted to run through a sliding glass door, which didn't break and cause a terrible accident by pure luck.
Very young kids require some parental control, period.
