Very cool article. And a great resource behind it. If only more doctors thought like them. Oh, wait, it’s not the doctors’ fault, it’s the system.

Think recall when received my results via NHS app last year it also gave ranges. Remember being a bit puzzled that GP never said a word about one result that seemed well outside the ‘healthy range’. But I therefore assumed it was not going to kill me
Last time I got my test results, that’s all I got. I didn’t have a follow up appointment (it was QOF) and I wasn’t told normal ranges, what the results meant or what my options were. ChatGPT helped massively though I did build in guard rails in to my questions.
When we are unwell, in pain, anxious wouldn’t it be fab if the NHS was there for us unconditionally?
Wonderful idea. Feels sensible, caring, inclusive. Improves safety as well I’d imagine. I used to co-dictate letters to/for patients in clinic and it did work well- though it took time. Digital systems should really help though. Thanks Neil and hope all well. Interested in *the job*? DM me?
Trying to make sense of Trump by concluding he’s mentally ill is sloppy thinking.
He’s a thin-skinned, power-crazy narcissist with absolutely no moral compass.
Precisely.
Very much this!
And it's fairly unlikely potential candidates will have equal skills and experience in both, so will need to have a team to compensate for whichever deficit, and demonstrably value that.
I agree. And of course how to support the system to use data to catalyse a
genuine culture shift which many of us have been trying to achieve for….a little while now.
One hundred and eighty years after the fax machine was invented, the NHS is still using the technology.

Just seen the ad for the new director of patient experience at DHSC. Interesting JD.
And….although there’s *much* the NHS can learn from customer service industries, patients are not customers- they are co-producers of health. A vital distinction imho.
Interesting blog. As an ex-anaesthetist who worked in Bristol at the time of the heart surgery scandal, it’s important to recognise the role of anaesthetists in recognising early signals of substandard surgical performance.
Fab report which we hope will put this particular policy zombie finally to bed.
Hints of more focus on allocative efficiency as well, which is (or at any rate should be) the fundamental argument supporting shifting care into our communities.
Would switching the NHS to an insurance model fix it? Our new research says no.
🎥 IPPR head of health, @sebrees1.bsky.social breaks down why changing the funding model is a distraction, and what would actually make a difference.

🩺 | NEW REPORT: Changing the NHS funding model would be a costly distraction.
We analysed 22 countries and found:
❌ No evidence insurance systems perform better
💸 Higher admin costs in insurance systems
🏥 The real issue = underinvestment

And don’t forget that the more technical our language becomes, the more we render patients health illiterate. It’s not their ‘fault’- it’s ours.
🎉We are delighted to share that @felly500.bsky.social, ADPH President and Director of Public Health for @sheffcitycouncil.bsky.social, received his OBE during a ceremony earlier today at Windsor Castle. Huge congratulations to Greg.👏
👍👍
Thanks! Just read it. Adoption of SDM is a complex intervention. Still lots we don’t know about how to achieve high quality SDM reliably…
Just rang my (generally lovely) GP surgery to ask about a repeat prescription. Told I had ordered it incorrectly on the app and need to ‘go back and put it on the spine’. Right….
For the nth time today, the British Social Attitudes Survey is not a patient experience survey. Sleep well.
Lots of caveats re: this survey. It’s a whole population survey for starters- not a survey of patients. So for some people in this survey they are reflecting on the ‘idea’ of the NHS, not their direct experience. And as for satisfaction, well, see point 4 here: picker.org/research_ins...
Seems to me that Tice is a wrong ‘un but what he did was clearly legal, so why the big story?
If a large commercial organisation was in a state of constant flux at all levels of leadership, whilst at the same time trying to fundamentally change its operating model, it would fail and fall into administration.
Every rotten member of the US senior administration is either a tyrant or a sycophant or both.
BREAKING: Bruce Springsteen just announced that his band will be doing a tour in effort to fight back against Donald Trump's authoritarian overreach. The Boss is back! Great. Bring down the ICE
Bloody pigeons still not taking any notice though, eh Neal?
Yes- forgot that mention. Lots of Morrisons concerns and ideas were spot on imho
