hello good morning howdy, I am teaching undergrads today for the first time in a long time and I hate that I have to start with the AI speech. Has to happen. I just hate it.

Their classes and conversations over the NY Times and coffee made me a global thinker and an Atlanticist. Showed me the importance of hearing and listening to the other. To engage. To get lost in cities. To meet new people. Of the importance of alliances. And diplomacy above war.

I was educated by Cold War generation of professors. One served in Vietnam. Another in military intel in W Germany. Travelling with them as an undergraduate showed me the world and new culture. They taught me places are not their governments.

I want my tax dollars to go for healthcare, childcare, science and research, the arts and humanities, public lands and national parks. A hell of a lot of thing instead of war against the world. I want more money for the State dept and diplomacy. For education. For public transportation.

NATO makes the US and the world more secure, ever more since 2014. Trump can’t single-handedly remove the US.

US and China playing the role of UK and Russia post Vienna. France and Germany remain the same. Russia is Austria Hungary.

If we look European diplomacy post Vienna 1815 - balance of power? Consensus of power? It may help us understand present day geopolitics. Two powers in USA and China. UK France Germany powers really in name only. Russia a power because others allow it to be viewed that way still.

Ukraine can help Gulf States and US defend against Iranian drones. Russia is struggling and even losing territorial gains in Ukraine. Russia benefits from high oil prices Asian energy markets struggle. Region is destabilising. Geopolitical nightmare for an administration of idiots in DC.

They released numbers once & shut it down bc humanities were producing huge $ for uni & engineers, business and scientists were losing $

They are aware that Russians quite literally wrote the capitulation document that some people in the White House and sadly many people in the media refer to as a peace plan.
