Chicago Bears Land Interior Disruptor in Latest NFL.com 2026 Mock Draft
NFL.com analyst Charles Davis published his first mock draft of the 2026 NFL Draft season, and he’s marching in line with what most draft experts think.
With the 25th overall pick, Davis has the Bears selecting Florida defensive lineman Caleb Banks, a player whose 2025 season was derailed by injury but whose Senior Bowl performance reignited first-round buzz.
“Despite missing most of the 2025 season with a foot injury, Banks reignited excitement about his potential during Senior Bowl week,” Davis wrote. “He provides the Bears with the push they want to create inside.”
The Bears’ defense took a step forward in 2025, especially in takeaways, but interior pass-rush (and pass-rush overall) consistency remained an issue. Chicago struggled against the run, too, and still lacks a true disruptive 3-technique who can, in equal parts, disrupt the run and collapse the pocket.
Banks fits that prototype.
At 6-foot-6 and 335 pounds with long arms and interior quickness, he profiles as a power-plus-penetration hybrid. Before his foot injury cut short his 2025 campaign, Banks flashed the ability to win with leverage and heavy hands. His Senior Bowl reps reminded scouts why he entered the season as a potential first-rounder: he can convert speed to power and compress the pocket.
Sounds like a guy the Chicago Bears could use. His injury is the only real question.
Foot injuries for big-bodied defensive linemen aren’t insignificant. Medical evaluations will ultimately determine whether Banks sticks in the first round. But if Chicago’s staff is comfortable with his medical checks, the value at No. 25 makes sense.
The Bears are close. The defense is solid but needs to add pieces this offseason. To take the next step toward elite, they need more disruption inside.
Caleb Banks could be that answer.
