So, for those of you out there named Claude... Y'all changing your name or just accepting everyone thinking you are a bot online?

What a roller coaster ride this agentic coding thing is. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had programming. So many scary things about the change, but damn I don’t miss trying to remember syntax when switching between several different languages. I’m quite content focusing on bigger picture decisions.

You think RAM is expensive? Wait until you need a 32TB SSD to store all the damn skills you need for you LLMs to work effectively.

I was once told "in biochemistry, pi is equal to 3".

I am feeling that daily when discussing improvements in AI coding environments.

Pi was definitely 3 this morning... It’s better now, I’m just not sure what number it is yet.

Plenty of these things do seem to make it work better. But I just hate the scale that we are measuring on lately. Imagine shagging around changing code and just using it and saying "seems like that is better than when I started".

The exhausting thing about programming with AI is talking about what "works better". Its hard or impossible to verify these conclusions. How can you be sure you didn't luck into a better claude planning session this time? Did it actually do a better job or did it just feel that way?

The best thing that AI does is write code using libraries with horrible docs. What a hateful thing to do by hand that is.

In a world where LLMs need natural language input, you best believe I've hot keyed dictation to a button on my mouse. You're gonna have to work hard to convince me that you're able to type faster than a Newfoundlander can speak.

I am worried that this is a fork in the road moment where some zoomers will become boomers because they never learn how to work well with LLMs. You know how your dad can't figure out password managers? I think the new equivalent might be not using LLMs, or just prompting them with stock settings.

New Year's Resolutioners in the gym is a good thing.

I am glad that the term "AI slop" is adequately insulting of the uninspired garbage that is being mass produced and force-fed to me.

If you ask me, the vibe is that vibe coding does not produce useful products.

I've been buying nice cheeses lately and its so worth it. Sure it might be "expensive groceries" but it's only a few bucks extra and creates way more happiness per dollar than fast food ever could.

ChatGPT 5.1 has been great so far. The goal is for it to take longer and give worse answers right?

I think I have a copy of the GBA version of 5! I’ll have to get a GameCube-GBA hookup and give it a shot. 6 was my first real FF experience after my attention span couldn’t survive FF1 on NES…

Interesting point about self directed retirement accounts making retirement tough. Similar in Canada. It’s too easy for people to mess up. Not everyone has the tools to make that plan or stick to it even when they can afford it. Were pensions around for minimum wage work before then?

Never played 2, but a year ago my friend and I got around to finishing 3/6 (SNES III) and we found out about the “Sketch Glitch” organically about 70h in. I wonder if they put that classic game ruining glitch in the ff6 remaster 🤔

Metroid Prime 4 is the first game I’ve owned that runs 120fps so I bought a new television just to play it. Worth it.

I don’t know anything about Reagan (or care 🇨🇦) but the inflection point in the data is really interesting. Wonder what other things happened around then. One big thing is this is around the time we got computers in the home (and work)

Awesome. Android only for now?

Maybe Anthropic were just trying to order dim sum for the office but they have become out of touch with money and didn’t realize the bill looked a little high for some xiaolongbao.

Nothing better than the sound of a test "Emergency Alert" in the morning.

A small improvement I’ve noticed is that instead of just answering questions with “idk” and showing you the top 3 results on Google, she delegates to ChatGPT and may actually speak a coherent answer. Which is what I need if I’m using Hey Siri… Though solving this is long overdue.

I am a Hey Siri power-user (allow me some creative license). But ever since iOS 26 it has become useless in my experience. She will light up *most times* but often fail to hear the command, or fail to complete the task. I’m talking simple stuff like setting and alarm or a reminder or sending a text.

Working on my own vehicle doesn’t seem to save me any money but it saves me from having a relaxing weekend.

It’s pretty humbling to walk into a lane swim and realize that your life is in the hands of a 16 year old and they are fully capable of saving you.

Up until this year all I did was walk in circles in Metroid Prime 2 as a child so I definitely can’t claim “true fan” either LOL. You’re motivating me to do one more Metroid push before the release..

Stop removing tactile buttons from vehicles. I don’t want to have to choose between looking for my climate control buttons and having to deal with a sudden suddenly fogged up windshield. WOULD YOU LIKE FOR ME TO CRASH?

That’s much better!
