What was Bland is now inaccessible and on private land. It is, however, located in the mountains, not in the desert.

Campaign finance reports reveal horse racing interests behind anti-Haaland PAC At least three of its four deep-pocketed donors are linked to Sam Bregman, who previously served as chairman of the New Mexico Racing Commission.

This really disturbs me about Bregman. A lot.

The truth about Harmeet Dhillon, Trump's likely pick for attorney general She's now assistant AG for civil rights but is intent on reversing civil rights.

Dhillon is (unfortunately) just what we have come to expect under Trump.

I guess it is superfluous to note here that Trump started this war smack in the middle of ongoing negotiations with Iran.

Any soldier or leader who commits a war crime ordered by Trump / Hegseth must also be brought to justice before a court. That includes destroying civilian infrastructure like desalination plants, electric generation stations, and, of course, schools.

Women have never built a dictatorship. Not once. Is sexism the reason? Or is there more to it? Let's explore the connection between performative masculinity and authoritarianism.

To tell the truth, I didn't realize the whole business was coming up until I hopped in my little jalopy and headed to Walgreens first thing in the morning. Walkers all over, all headed south along Hwy 47.

Just noticed that I have this chart:

Hard to tell. The regulars who make their way up the hill after walking miles to its base don't seem odd. Many treat it as a kind of social event, I think. Laughing, talking, walking. Maybe when they reach the hill, they're more somber, but I suspect that they're just tired.

Some people do a yearly pilgrimage to the top of nearby Tomé hill. Some drag crosses. But there's no church up there. Or monster truck.

Could there be some subsect that does a truck-church thing afterwards? I guess so, but I sure haven't heard of it. Never can tell with religious extremists.

If TX pays $220b in cash for the NM oil patch, NM should accept. Investing that amount even at modest interest, NM will earn over $15b per year, which is what petro contributes to the NM state budget. Degraded land with wells playing out is not worth keeping. But it will make NM permanently blue.

The US has for years used its overseas bases to project its military power where ever its financial interests are at stake, primarily outside of Europe. It is high time that America is defanged and demilitarized, made into a minor regional power at best.

Yes, I'm in NM, a large state (5th largest) with a small population (#36, just over 2m), most living in the metro areas along the Rio Grande, including ABQ, Rio Rancho, Las Cruces, and Santa Fe.

The state budget gets around $15b / year from petro leases, second only to income from various taxes.

They aren't going to gain many voters in those counties. Underpopulated country out there.

That country produces oil, but it's also shortsighted to rely on it. They already have to frack like crazy to pump it. And as empty underground caverns collapse, earthquakes are becoming a problem.
