My shattering and beautiful slipstream prose poem “The Oubliette” (written Winter 2024) from my ongoing “All Islands are Hydra” cycle will be in this issue. This one was difficult to submit and share with the universe as it’s from my heart/soul.

Author: Cody Alcorn Published: 11:51 PM EDT May 13, 2025 Updated: 11:46 AM EDT May 14, 2025 ATLANTA - The family of a 30-year-old metro Atlanta mother and nurse said she was declared brain dead more than 90 days ago - but is still being kept alive because she's pregnant. Adriana Smith, a registered nurse at Emory University Hospital, was nearly nine weeks pregnant in early February when she started experiencing intense headaches. According to her mother, April Newkirk, Smith sought treatment at Northside Hospital but was released after being given medication.

They are using her body as an incubator. She was less than 9 weeks pregnant when she was declared brain dead, but the state of Georgia is keeping her alive until she gives birth.

Scars are part of our stories and survival. Any man, that young, who demands a Barbie doll, plastic perfect, doesn’t deserve a real woman and will never be a kind man. She deserves so much more. A good man kisses your scars and makes you feel beautiful because of them and is grateful you have them.

I hope she lets his wife or life partner have the cheating scum and finds someone who wants to be there for her and loves her. The 🚩 are waving and she needs to be freed. Dump him! She’s a benched side chick and no one deserves mere leftovers and scraps! No man is worth begging for attention or time

My first TOC ever! Only Mortification Can Bear Fruit” will be out soon in Space and Time Magazine this month!

Rage!! hired to edit/proof “sword and sorcery” genre and am fired because I use Sprague-de Camp (“whodat?”😡 really?!?!?) as the style guide and do “Show, Don’t Tell”/count “goo”/“ooze” as redundant synonyms and there’s 54 uses of “good” as filler in 62 pages- don’t hire me! I’ve standards. #Writers
